Killzone 2 Major Hype, Bad Launch

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 February 2009 1:32 am

Killzone 2 Has an amazing amount of hype surrounding it and no less of that hype upon its release date. It’s unbelievable that few people showed up to a couple select GameStop’s across the US. Though we can’t be to certain about how well it did until the first weeks sales chart is released; hopefully sales pickup during the weekend. I did happen to see a decent amount of people at Target since it always opens earlier than any GameStop.

In Europe it’s reported that 1.1 million was pre ordered. Although that’s a major success, will Killzone 2 be a one week extravaganza or will it be the game to compete with gears and halo in terms of sales? If I have learned anything it’s that PS3 games don’t always sale like hot cakes. PS3 games sale slow, but make their mark to the 2 – 3 million range eventually i.e. Resistance 2 & Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Most definitely it will move massively in units within time as it may possibly be the best FPS on the PS3 thus far.

There’s a lot riding on this title and no matter how beautiful the graphics are or how well it plays, it has to move units and move hardware to be considered a major title for the Playstation 3. Sony has tons of games coming out this year that are all exclusive but Killzone 2 is definitely the beginning of this onslaught. Maybe when gamers realize all the other titles the PS3 has this year, it will drive them to purchase a PS3 but this won’t happen till after the price cut and when at least two more exclusives drop. By then people will realize what Killzone 2 has to deliver and they may very well purchase the game to give it a go themselves. What often happens however is people only care about the sales chart, and if Killzone 2 can’t put up amazing numbers, then the ignorance that resides in everyone will force them to overlook this game.

Every company has pride and everyone wants to win. Sony is no exception. Sony entered the competition really arrogant considering they won two previous console wars from the beginning of their video game console life. One win against Nintendo’s N64 and Sega’s Sega Saturn and another against Microsoft’s Xbox, Nintendo’s Game Cube, and Sega’s Dreamcast. To dominate in this industry for so long it would be a major blow mentally and it will be a major blow to the integrity that Sony holds as far as being number 1.

An Italian Xbox site has apparently revealed Test Drive Unlimited 2, commenting that both Atari and Eden Studios are working on it. Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be a follow up the the original that was released in mid 2006, early in the the Xbox 360’s lifespan, which manage to drawn in a respectable fanbase.

According to the Italian site, MondoXbox, the new game will feature both on and off-road challenges, showcasing vehicles with both two to four wheels. However, neither Atari or Eden have officially commented on the game as of yet.

Killzone 2 Patch 1.11 up now!

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Friday 27 February 2009 9:50 pm

Following the release of the European launch, a patch was made available immediately to fix problems online. The problems included lagging in game and a few other bugs. Guerrilla made sure to correct these issues as soon as possible, and that they did. The US release was today Friday the 27th of February. The game was released but not without a few problems here and there. Most annoying to many was the lag issue when playing Warzone. Guerrilla is supporting US servers as good as they are with European servers. It’s good to see that they care about their loyal fans.

Aside from that, I would like to see an overhaul made on the game system for online play. It seems as though there isn’t ranked and unranked games. You could make a custom game but nothing like the match finding systems in COD, Resistance, or Halo. I want ranked and unranked to be separated so that you can’t custom create ranked games. It would add challenge to the game. Socom Confrontation was able to do this massive overhaul in a matter of months; Guerrilla should be faster seeing how they patched up the European servers as quick as they did the US servers, i.e. same day as launch. Other than that, the game is perfect and very addictive.

New Wii Controller Revealed! HELL YES THIS IS GREAT EVERYBODY

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Friday 27 February 2009 5:22 pm

Nintendo has released an image of its new Wii controller, dubbed Classic Pro.

The image above, released onto Nintendo’s own website, shows what essentially looks like a bulky classic controller with additional prongs, together resembling the GameCube controller layout or even Microsoft’s own Controller S.

Eagle-eyed observers will have noticed the shoulder-button layout has changed, omitting the two inner-lane circler buttons and replacing them with a classic DualShock shoulder setup. The layout alteration ends any initial idea that Nintendo is releasing additional plastic padding for the already-available Classic Controller; this is a new model.

Beyond what can be seen, however, details of the unit remain scarce. The unit is coming sometime this Summer in Japan, though nothing has been confirmed beyond. Expect the unit attach to a Wii Remote much like the original Classic Controller, but any type of sixaxis-esque motion detection seems unlikely.

What’s more interesting is Nintendo’s own purpose for releasing the controller; whether this upgrade means more 3D titles will come to the virtual console (perhaps beyond N64 games), and whether it means Nintendo is set to release more traditionally-controlled games for the Wii itself.

Exclusive: T.I. Responds To Recent 50 Cent Jab

One rapper who refuses to play along in 50 Cent’s war games is fellow superstar T.I. In an interview with XXLmag.com, the Atlanta MC addressed an apparent diss from 50’s ongoing “Officer Ricky” cartoon series that poked fun at his October 2007 arrest for weapons possession.

Sidestepping the beef, Tip denied seeing the video that depicted an animated Rick Ross cuffing and then interrogating him. “I haven’t seen it but, we all know dude,” he said of Fif. “We all know his intentions, we all know his motives. We’ve seen this too many times before. You know, I play chess, not checkers, you dig? I ain’t even trippin’ off of that. At the end of the day, I’m more worried or concerned about what a man says to me or what a man does to me, not what he says or does in the eyes of the public.”

50 has taken shots at T.I. in the past, notably on the song “You So Tough” off of G-Unit’s last album, Terminate On Sight. Insinuating that the “King of the South” had snitched in order to retain a lighter jail sentence, Fif spit, “How do you explain how homey breeeze /They said keep ya mouth shut or you eatin’ the cheese.”

As he did then, T.I. continues to shrug off any attempts to undermine his rep. “I’m a real dude,” he said, “a stand up guy with integrity, respect, morals, standards, [and] principles, and anything outside of that I ain’t got nothing to do with.”

Wipeout HD Review for PSN by Killa-Indian

Posted by Killa-Indian | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Reviews | Thursday 26 February 2009 10:01 pm

Hey guys, just posting one of my game reviews. This is long overdue, but I feel it is a game worth reviewing and is something a lot of people are missing out on. This one has some ratings in it. My future video reviews will not. Just text reviews will.

I will split this one into presentation, gameplay/controls

If you do not want to read everything just read the summary and the gameplay/controls section

Presentation
-Simply put wow. This game is in full 1080p and is a downloadable game. It looks nice on a big HD Screen.

-The colors are very grey, and metropolis like. Pretty much all the colors you would picture in a futuristic city. The cars are much more detailed then there PSP predessessors. The textures are pretty nice with ocassional bad ones, but they are hard to find in the game. You have to some really close and be meticulate to find bad textures and graphics. The color gets real funky when you go into zone mode. It is all bars off. It is a psychadelic experience that just needs to be experienced. Colors scheme changes as you increase zones. It is overall excellent.

-The sense of speed is just perfect. Especially when you are in harder difficulty settings. The vechicle is moving faster then you can react sometimes, which really shows something. The motion blurring is amazing in some races. Really makes you feel like you are there. Your just traveling at break neck speeds making sharp turns, and passing opponents.

-Collisions are nice too. They are not amazing with individual parts flying all over the place but, it has its moments. Especially when you see a vechicle blow up because of your weapons and you drive through the wreckage and see the smoke flying up. Pure sweetness.

-The audio is very robust and impressive. It has Dolby Digital Surround Sound which means pure music to the ears. The sountrack features old songs from previous games rerecorded into 5.1 surround sound, and it has that techno feel to it that suits the game like a glove. The audio itself is interactive with the game. When your health is low, the audio tones down. When you are in the air, the audio sounds distilled. The envioronment interacts with the music as well. pictures and billboards become more active when the bass kicks up. It really makes the game into a work of art. What is my favorite feature is the ability to bring in your own music. That literally makes the soundtrack options infinite. You can listen to anything in the game. You can literally play to some classic rock, or some straight up bass heavy hip hop and the game will interact with the music. Makes the game all the more enjoyable.

-This game gets a 9 out of 10 for presentation. The audio is what does it for anybody. That is one of the main reasons this game is just pure gold.

Gameplay/Controls
-This game is a fast paced racer. It is easy to pick up and play. It features 8 player online multiplayer, and 2 player slitscreen multiplayer. There are plenty of racing modes. You have the plain race which is just 8 player race with the option of weapons or no weapons. You have zone mode (1 player), which is basically a survival mode. You have speed race, in which you race 99 laps (can quit whenever) and try to beat your own time. Basically speed race is just a practice mode. Then there is Time trial in which you have to beat level as fast as you can. There are different speed types. With Phantom being the fastest avaiable on all modes except Zone. Those few and I mean few who make it to zone 100 are on the fastest speed available in the game

-There are plenty of tracks to choose from, and all of them are reversible which makes more track choices. The vechicle list is phenomenonal. Plenty of vechicles and each have there own advantages. They all have unlockable alternative vechicle skins but you must unlock them which may take some time.

-The online is pure awesome. Practically no lag. There is a little lag when you start up, but it is before the race starts. There are tournament modes and plain race mode. That is all you get. It is still a very nice addition. It is still addicting to kick some butt online. The main problem is for those who get into to the game and want to show off skills. The problem is that the the pilot assist is available online, so people can just turn that one and any noob can play on hard levels. It just eliminates any skill that the game requires, and it does not push the players to get even better at the game since all you have to do is turn on pilot assist and you will be able to beat any track on any difficulty.

-The controls are easy to get into. The game takes advantage of the sixaxis. It is just perfect. It is the only game I played in which they use the sixaxis controls so perfectly. Do not hesistate to even try the option. It is amazingly solid. I can’t just type about it, it just needs to be experienced. The controls are just amazing. I will say one thing though I did not like. Trying to do a barrel roll (loss some health but gives you a boost) in the air can be hard to perfect. You have to flick the analog stick left and right just to do the barrel roll, and that can be hard to do when you are traveling really fast and have to do this in a half second time frame.

-This game is easily accessible to anybody new to the game. It gives the option of turning on pilot assist which, helps prevent lots of crashing when you start out. The drawback is that you lose some of your max speed, but that is not a big deal if you are starting out. The option is especially useful when you are attacking the harder difficulty because you go so fast and lose lots of health with a tiny crash that decent players need to use it. It just means you have to work harder if you want to be the best, which is obtainable.

-Gameplay/Controls gets a solid 9

Summary
This game is one of the best racing games to grace the PS3. It has everything anybody wants at an affordable price. 8 player online, 2 player splitscreen, Customizable soundtrack, interactive environment, everything. It is a very polished game with few drawbacks. For any fans of racing and those who own a PS3…this is a must BUY!!!!!! You can upload your own music and play the game which is a great feature. You have plenty of gameplay options, plenty of vehicles, plenty of maps. The sense of speed is just so exilerating. The game is in full 1080p with Dolby Digital Surround sound, so it can be a game you can show off to anyone. Anyone that is a fan of the series and or own a PS3, should buy this game. The motion sensor controls is one of the best uses of the sixaxis ever. It is just an allaround excellent game. I give it an overall 9 out of 10.
