Sony Says Killzone 2 Only Possible On PS3, But Is It True?

The new TV spot showing off Killzone 2 is not touched up or enhanced in any way, this is the real deal. Come February 27th people are going to lose their minds when they see this game on their TV Screens whether it be a standard definition or high definition screens. Xbox 360, although a powerful machine has not shown anything exclusively on this level of detail; even with their 3 years on the market they never may be able to show that level of quality. The vice president of product marketing said “We had an idea for a fresh way to promote the game. It was to bring the incredible detail in Killzone 2 to life by showcasing the game’s technology – only made possible by the power of the PS3.”

PS3’s cell processor is the meat of the power and now that Guerrilla Games has tapped into it other developers are gearing up to utilize this power as well and starting this year you will see the true power of ps3 surpass 360 in terms of graphical power. I can only say graphical power because it is something that is certain when watching a real-time trailer. You can’t always be to certain about game play however, so graphics is a given. Everyone knows graphics aren’t everything as seen in games like Lair & Too Human. Fortunately for Playstation fans, Killzone 2 is much more than graphics; it’s the amount of action on screen, the scale of the game, the light sources (most games use a max of 4 light sources when Killzone 2 uses up to 350 in some particular sections), the A.I., the multiplayer, all of which truly can sit on the thrown in this current console war.

This game most definitely fits in on this generation and God of War 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, WarDevil, Heavy Rain, & MAG will only add to this experience of true power. The PS3 may be unmatched though we can’t say for certain seeing how the 360 may still have some tricks up its sleeves; at least that’s the word over at Microsoft. With a potential price cut this year and more goods for the PS3 such as the constant add-ons to home. Is seems as Sony may be taking the lead, if not in sales, then in game quality and in overall service to their community.

The question at hand is, Is Killzone 2 only possible on the PS3? My answer is yes. Not as a fanboy statement though. Considering that a 1.2 GB download (DEMO) only gave us 10 minutes of gameplay, I can only imagine how big the game actually is. I don’t recall Guerrilla Games ever stating the size of the game, but I wouldn’t doubt it took up all the space on the Blu-ray disc.

Gabe Newell takes another shot at PS3!

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 19 February 2009 5:32 pm

In the Dice Summit with MTV Gabe Newell described how he would like the gaming industry to be. He gave out some good points on how the community should be and how close developers should be with their fans. He said they should deliver concept art, frequent content updates, pricing that’s always in flux, video game companies acting as “entertainment companies”, & gaming consoles that connect gamers to game studios.

Yes this story is posted on N4G, but one thing they didn’t notice is, Gabe took a shot at the PS3; again. Mainly in this quote “Newell thinks that consoles makers who don’t allow the kinds of things he described throughout his talk would be making a decision akin to, a decade ago ignoring 3D graphics and sticking just with 2D. It won’t be better graphics that determines a winner in the next console generation (which, of course, it never has been: see the N64, Xbox and PS3).” Is he saying the PS3 lost this console war already? There hasn’t been enough time to decide that, but he seems to have a glass ball that can see into the future. Why did he put the PS3 in there? He is obviously is admitting PS3 has better graphics, but if he’s going to say that graphics isn’t everything, then he should have also thrown in the 360 on that comment as well, seeing how both PS3 and 360 is having their asses handed to them by the Wii. It seems as he’s comparing the N64 and Xbox (1st Generation) to the current generation PS3. Was this a honest mistake on his behalf? I think not! Mere fanboyism.

Can Nintendo Go Head To Head With Sony & Microsoft Next Round?

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 19 February 2009 2:27 am

Nintendo almost felt the wrath of being Dream Casted in this industry but, the Wii has come to save the day and possibly put Nintendo in a position to compete directly with Sony and Microsoft in terms of sheer power. The N64 was the first time Nintendo had ever suffered defeat which changed the tides in their business.

Nintendo always had games they never had electronics, and software, to keep their business afloat they always relied on their videogame business for support and when the N64 lost to the Playstation, Sony reigned supreme and never looked back. Nintendo tried again with the GameCube, unfortunately not only did the Playstation 2 enter the competition, the Xbox entered the race as well. Microsoft being the software giant that they are, Nintendo had no match to the raw power of the Xbox combined with the presence of the PS2. One thing that separated Nintendo from the pack was money.

Sony and Microsoft financially are capable to go head to head with one another but not Nintendo and in that respect the GameCube comes in 3rd place and once again they had to go back to the drawing board and figure things out before they downsized to a software company like Sega. Just imagine Mario on Microsoft and Sony’s platform! Only “WOW” comes to mind. Reality the 3rd time was the charm for Nintendo; the Wii, alongside the DS, Nintendo is literally printing money and now they are in position to come out and release a major hardcore HD spec gaming system for the next cycle of consoles. Just imagine if Nintendo releases the Wii 2 on the market, a true HD console with realistic graphics that will go head on with the PS4 and Xbox 720. Nintendo would have an amazing handheld and a hardcore/casual system making Nintendo officially the leading console manufacturer. Sony and Microsoft needs to watch out for this because Nintendo can easily steal the thunder from its competition next cycle just like they are doing now in this current generation.

Knowing Nintendo however, they would not release a Wii 2 but a new name in the works. In order for this to work however, Nintendo would have to release an outrageous amount of games varying from Hardcore and Casual. This would be a serious appeal to everyone, instead of just leaning to one side, casual games like they’re doing right now.
