Sony Says Killzone 2 Only Possible On PS3, But Is It True?
The new TV spot showing off Killzone 2 is not touched up or enhanced in any way, this is the real deal. Come February 27th people are going to lose their minds when they see this game on their TV Screens whether it be a standard definition or high definition screens. Xbox 360, although a powerful machine has not shown anything exclusively on this level of detail; even with their 3 years on the market they never may be able to show that level of quality. The vice president of product marketing said “We had an idea for a fresh way to promote the game. It was to bring the incredible detail in Killzone 2 to life by showcasing the game’s technology – only made possible by the power of the PS3.”
PS3’s cell processor is the meat of the power and now that Guerrilla Games has tapped into it other developers are gearing up to utilize this power as well and starting this year you will see the true power of ps3 surpass 360 in terms of graphical power. I can only say graphical power because it is something that is certain when watching a real-time trailer. You can’t always be to certain about game play however, so graphics is a given. Everyone knows graphics aren’t everything as seen in games like Lair & Too Human. Fortunately for Playstation fans, Killzone 2 is much more than graphics; it’s the amount of action on screen, the scale of the game, the light sources (most games use a max of 4 light sources when Killzone 2 uses up to 350 in some particular sections), the A.I., the multiplayer, all of which truly can sit on the thrown in this current console war.
This game most definitely fits in on this generation and God of War 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, WarDevil, Heavy Rain, & MAG will only add to this experience of true power. The PS3 may be unmatched though we can’t say for certain seeing how the 360 may still have some tricks up its sleeves; at least that’s the word over at Microsoft. With a potential price cut this year and more goods for the PS3 such as the constant add-ons to home. Is seems as Sony may be taking the lead, if not in sales, then in game quality and in overall service to their community.
The question at hand is, Is Killzone 2 only possible on the PS3? My answer is yes. Not as a fanboy statement though. Considering that a 1.2 GB download (DEMO) only gave us 10 minutes of gameplay, I can only imagine how big the game actually is. I don’t recall Guerrilla Games ever stating the size of the game, but I wouldn’t doubt it took up all the space on the Blu-ray disc.
