Wipeout HD Review for PSN by Killa-Indian

Posted by Killa-Indian | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Reviews | Thursday 26 February 2009 10:01 pm

Hey guys, just posting one of my game reviews. This is long overdue, but I feel it is a game worth reviewing and is something a lot of people are missing out on. This one has some ratings in it. My future video reviews will not. Just text reviews will.

I will split this one into presentation, gameplay/controls

If you do not want to read everything just read the summary and the gameplay/controls section

Presentation
-Simply put wow. This game is in full 1080p and is a downloadable game. It looks nice on a big HD Screen.

-The colors are very grey, and metropolis like. Pretty much all the colors you would picture in a futuristic city. The cars are much more detailed then there PSP predessessors. The textures are pretty nice with ocassional bad ones, but they are hard to find in the game. You have to some really close and be meticulate to find bad textures and graphics. The color gets real funky when you go into zone mode. It is all bars off. It is a psychadelic experience that just needs to be experienced. Colors scheme changes as you increase zones. It is overall excellent.

-The sense of speed is just perfect. Especially when you are in harder difficulty settings. The vechicle is moving faster then you can react sometimes, which really shows something. The motion blurring is amazing in some races. Really makes you feel like you are there. Your just traveling at break neck speeds making sharp turns, and passing opponents.

-Collisions are nice too. They are not amazing with individual parts flying all over the place but, it has its moments. Especially when you see a vechicle blow up because of your weapons and you drive through the wreckage and see the smoke flying up. Pure sweetness.

-The audio is very robust and impressive. It has Dolby Digital Surround Sound which means pure music to the ears. The sountrack features old songs from previous games rerecorded into 5.1 surround sound, and it has that techno feel to it that suits the game like a glove. The audio itself is interactive with the game. When your health is low, the audio tones down. When you are in the air, the audio sounds distilled. The envioronment interacts with the music as well. pictures and billboards become more active when the bass kicks up. It really makes the game into a work of art. What is my favorite feature is the ability to bring in your own music. That literally makes the soundtrack options infinite. You can listen to anything in the game. You can literally play to some classic rock, or some straight up bass heavy hip hop and the game will interact with the music. Makes the game all the more enjoyable.

-This game gets a 9 out of 10 for presentation. The audio is what does it for anybody. That is one of the main reasons this game is just pure gold.

Gameplay/Controls
-This game is a fast paced racer. It is easy to pick up and play. It features 8 player online multiplayer, and 2 player slitscreen multiplayer. There are plenty of racing modes. You have the plain race which is just 8 player race with the option of weapons or no weapons. You have zone mode (1 player), which is basically a survival mode. You have speed race, in which you race 99 laps (can quit whenever) and try to beat your own time. Basically speed race is just a practice mode. Then there is Time trial in which you have to beat level as fast as you can. There are different speed types. With Phantom being the fastest avaiable on all modes except Zone. Those few and I mean few who make it to zone 100 are on the fastest speed available in the game

-There are plenty of tracks to choose from, and all of them are reversible which makes more track choices. The vechicle list is phenomenonal. Plenty of vechicles and each have there own advantages. They all have unlockable alternative vechicle skins but you must unlock them which may take some time.

-The online is pure awesome. Practically no lag. There is a little lag when you start up, but it is before the race starts. There are tournament modes and plain race mode. That is all you get. It is still a very nice addition. It is still addicting to kick some butt online. The main problem is for those who get into to the game and want to show off skills. The problem is that the the pilot assist is available online, so people can just turn that one and any noob can play on hard levels. It just eliminates any skill that the game requires, and it does not push the players to get even better at the game since all you have to do is turn on pilot assist and you will be able to beat any track on any difficulty.

-The controls are easy to get into. The game takes advantage of the sixaxis. It is just perfect. It is the only game I played in which they use the sixaxis controls so perfectly. Do not hesistate to even try the option. It is amazingly solid. I can’t just type about it, it just needs to be experienced. The controls are just amazing. I will say one thing though I did not like. Trying to do a barrel roll (loss some health but gives you a boost) in the air can be hard to perfect. You have to flick the analog stick left and right just to do the barrel roll, and that can be hard to do when you are traveling really fast and have to do this in a half second time frame.

-This game is easily accessible to anybody new to the game. It gives the option of turning on pilot assist which, helps prevent lots of crashing when you start out. The drawback is that you lose some of your max speed, but that is not a big deal if you are starting out. The option is especially useful when you are attacking the harder difficulty because you go so fast and lose lots of health with a tiny crash that decent players need to use it. It just means you have to work harder if you want to be the best, which is obtainable.

-Gameplay/Controls gets a solid 9

Summary
This game is one of the best racing games to grace the PS3. It has everything anybody wants at an affordable price. 8 player online, 2 player splitscreen, Customizable soundtrack, interactive environment, everything. It is a very polished game with few drawbacks. For any fans of racing and those who own a PS3…this is a must BUY!!!!!! You can upload your own music and play the game which is a great feature. You have plenty of gameplay options, plenty of vehicles, plenty of maps. The sense of speed is just so exilerating. The game is in full 1080p with Dolby Digital Surround sound, so it can be a game you can show off to anyone. Anyone that is a fan of the series and or own a PS3, should buy this game. The motion sensor controls is one of the best uses of the sixaxis ever. It is just an allaround excellent game. I give it an overall 9 out of 10.

Splinter Cell Conviction to Have Deeper Game play Than Metal Gear Solid 4?

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 26 February 2009 8:55 pm

Metal Gear Solid has been the stealth espionage king ever since the days of the NES. The game since then has been perfected to the tip seen only on the PS3. The graphics, game play, the way you blend in to the textures on the wall or the ground to remain anonymous, it’s all brilliant. For every game, there are its competitors, and the bigger they are, the more competition it gets. For many years metal gear didn’t really have any competition would be worthy enough to go head to head or even be considered in Hideo Kojima’s class of development.

After enough waiting, along comes another great publisher also known as Ubisoft. Ubisoft introduced the hit Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series. Ubisoft with their amazing Splinter Cell instantly became direct competition for Metal Gear & Konami. The debate went on about what game was better while it seems lenient that people preferred Splinter Cell. Above many reasons there was the camera angle Used in the game. Although Metal Gear was a great game, people grew dreary of the slight over head game play style. Splinter Cell gave you a great camera angle so you could feel more a part of the game, even more so than Metal Gear.

The Splinter Cell franchise has made millions and the installment is set to change dramatically but fortunately in a good way. Splinter Cell Conviction is said to have a deep fighting system, tons of enemies on screen, run and gun action, and an extreme physics based engine that’s going to allegedly take it a step above that of what you’d see in Metal Gear (Series).

View the video clip below so you can see what this article is about. Sam Fisher is back and sadly and unfortunately Snake is dead (Or so it’s said). As of now, this title is slated to be released exclusively on the Xbox 360.

EA LOS ANGELES RELEASES THE LOST MISSION OF COMMAND & CONQUER GENERALS

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 26 February 2009 6:49 pm

Attention generals! You have been requested to report for duty one more time.

In celebration of the sixth anniversary of the award-winning real-time strategy classic Command & Conquer Generals, EA Los Angeles today released an exclusive gift to the Command & Conquer fans– the lost mission of Command & Conquer Generals. The never-before-seen and controversial Global Liberation Army mission was not included in the game’s original 2003 release and has been hidden and securely stored away in a secret location at the EA Los Angeles development studio until today. Command & Conquer fans can now download the mission Black Sheep for free on www.commandandconquer.com and unleash their inner General.

Black Sheep was originally slated to be the third mission in the Global Liberation Army campaign where players were given command of the Toxin Tractor, a slow-going farm vehicle modified to spray a deadly corrosive agent, and ordered to eliminate a town that had been “corrupted beyond salvation” by the USA’s propaganda. While the mission was ultimately removed from Generals, the Toxin Tractor was available in other campaign missions, as well as in multiplayer and skirmish modes.

Command & Conquer Generals is considered a genre-defining RTS of its time. The first fully 3D real-time strategy game, Generals put the player’s trigger finger on the pulse of modern warfare and let gamers command massive armies of bleeding-edge military weaponry across a globe teetering on the brink of destruction. With three unique factions, each with customizable high-tech arsenals ready to deliver unprecedented firepower on land or in the skies, gamers could wage real-time war in more ways than ever before, with thrilling air-to-air duels, urban combat, and an enhanced veterancy model

Guerilla Fixes Killzone 2 Server Issues

Posted by PAYBACK-IRONMAN | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 26 February 2009 6:46 pm

Some of my European PSN friends already have Killzone 2 and earlier today they were all telling me that the servers where causing disconnections and problems while trying to play online. I then starting thinking that Killzone 2 was gonna have an unsuccessful launch and that fans where going to flood Guerilla Games forums with complaints and crys of anger.

However Guerilla Games became aware of this immediatley and they have already fixed the issue. Guerilla Games Seb Downie has stated on the Guerilla Games forums that “We have already fixed this issue and the servers should be fine right now.” Its great to see that Guerilla addressed the problem so fast and I hope that they continue to support Killzone 2 like this, down the road.

Xbox LIVE® joins PC and Wii as new channel for “gaming’s first sitcom”

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 26 February 2009 12:57 pm

SAN RAFAEL, CA, February 26, 2009 – The dog and rabbity-thing stars of Telltale’s popular episodic games are one step closer to world domination today with the announcement that the first two “seasons” of Sam & Max will be appearing on Xbox LIVE Arcade. This is the award-winning comedy duo’s first appearance on the Xbox 360, as well as on a connected console download service. Worldwide PC and Wii retail releases of the second season are also upcoming.

These approaching releases will sport catchy new monikers to more closely tie the season titles with their respective story arcs. Season One, which takes the Freelance Police from the New York City streets to Washington D.C. and all the way to the moon on the trail of a hypnotic nemesis, will be dubbed Sam & Max Save the World for all new releases moving forward. Season Two, which involves a baffling series of time paradoxes at the hands of unconventional aliens, has been renamed Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space. The Xbox LIVE Arcade releases will carry these new titles, as will Atari’s 2009 retail versions of the second season.

“With Sam & Max coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade and the approaching retail launch, we’re reaching a larger audience than we ever have before,” says Telltale CEO Dan Connors. “These new releases give us an opportunity to better communicate the imaginative stories that make the Sam & Max games so special, and to strengthen the unique identity of each season.”

Both Sam & Max seasons will be released on Xbox LIVE Arcade as full-season bundles, providing instant gratification to players who have been eagerly waiting for the Freelance Police to appear on Microsoft’s console. The second Sam & Max season – which recently received Best Adventure Game accolades from IGN and PC Gamer and took home five Aggie Awards, including Best Comedy Writing, Best Gameplay, and Game of the Year from Adventure Gamers – is also scheduled to hit retail for PC and Wii in the coming months.

Today’s news follows Telltale’s recent announcement that the highly anticipated new series, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures, is leading the company’s expansion to Xbox LIVE Arcade. For more details about Sam & Max, Wallace & Gromit, and Telltale’s other games, please visit http://www.telltalegames.com.

About Sam & Max
Sam is a six-foot dog in a baggy suit sporting a trombone-sized .44 hand-cannon. Max is a three foot “rabbity thing” with a saw blade grin and the impulsive nature of the average piranha. Together they patrol the sticky streets of a fantastical New York City, righting wrongs, pummeling perps, and ridding the urban landscape of the shifty legions of “self-propelled gutter trash” that litter their streets. Sam & Max have appeared in comics, video games, an animated TV series recently reissued on DVD, and an Eisner award-winning webcomic.

Play with the team and guest star developers for a big day on PSN This Is Hot

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 26 February 2009 12:14 pm

26/02/09 – The team of Future’s Official PlayStation Magazine UK celebrates the launch of Killzone 2 with a 24hr gaming session on the PlayStation Network and you can join them!

From 08:00, Friday 27th February – the entire Official PlayStation Magazine editorial team will be online for 24 hours. Why? Because it beats working. With the UK release of Killzone 2 it’s the perfect time to celebrate just how many incredible, must-play online titles PS3 now boasts.

You won’t just be playing with Official PlayStation Magazine’s elite team of gamers. Throughout the day various developers will be dropping in to play their own games with you and the team. EA Vancouver will be playing FIFA 09, Criterion will be playing Burnout Paradise, and Infinity Ward will be playing COD4, amongst others to be revealed as action unfolds tomorrow.

Each time the team switches games they’ll be clearing their friends lists. If you’re one of the first to chuck them an invite at the start of a new session you could end up smashing a few past them in PES 2009 (unlikely), giving them a beating at Street Fighter IV (they’ve not learnt all the new moves yet) or lapping them in Wipeout HD with Sony Studio Liverpool looking on (those hover cars do go *pretty* fast).

To keep track of exactly what the team are playing, follow the updates on the magazine’s Twitter account, OPM_UK.
