Life’s on the Line Review by Hip-Hop White Boy

Artist: 50 Cent

Song: Life’s on the Line

Album: Power of the Dollar

Review:

This was originally off of 50 Cent’s EP, Power of the Dollar, which was released in 1999 before he was shot 9 times and dropped by Columbia. This is the only music video from the EP, and I gotta say that I like it. Am I the biggest 50 cent fan? No, but I’ve always been a fan of his older stuff. I think this song proves that 50 is more talented than people give him credit for. His last couple of albums have been mainstream, but that’s because he is now an international superstar, and wants to sell albums. I would personally prefer him to rap like this again. The beat is very smooth, and overall it’s a pretty good diss track. He raps in a way that makes you feel the emotion he is trying to convey. The song isn’t anything special, but it’s pretty good. It has plenty of good one liners, and is catchy. The chorus isn’t anything special, and it’s not for everyone but it’s worth a listen.

Score: 4 out of 5

Microsoft getting the Community involved in E3 this year; Microsoft’s E3 2009 booth is HUGE

giantgamer.wordpress.com

While listening to Major Nelson’s (Microsoft’s own Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hryb) podcast for today, Major Nelson announced some very interesting news.

Major Nelson stated:

“I can’t say much but I will say this; part of the Xbox Experience is Xbox Live, and part of Xbox Live is the community. The community will deffinitely play a role in this.”

In response to Major Nelson, “e” stated:

“We’re gonna try and get the community involved in E3 this year.”

So what is this “Community getting involved in E3″? Unveiled at E3 2008, Microsoft introduced its Xbox Live expansion named Xbox Live Primetime. Featured in Xbox Live Primtime was a game based off the hit TV game show 1 vs. 100. Will Microsoft invite the community to play 1 vs. 100 with them at their E3 press conference? Will we see new games that will be released for Primetime?

Also stated in Major Nelson’s Podcast, Major Nelson talked about Microsoft’s booth:

“I’ve seen that picture of our booth, its gonna be HUGE.”

So with Microsoft’s booth will be plentyful of games, and with the introduction of the fans participating in Microsoft’s E3 2009 press conference, it looks like we can certainly look forward to E3 this year.

HOME is Not Even Close to Being a System Seller

Posted by riderofpl4gues | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Sunday 15 March 2009 3:06 pm

As much as I love the Playstation 3, it really hurts to admit that HOME is/was a failure.  I understand that it is still in the beta stage but the features HOME was advertised to do three years ago, have yet to show up.  Streaming video and audio in my apartment is missing in action, the trophy room is cleverly absent, and game launching works for a hand full of games. SWEET!  The load times are consistently long between home spaces.  And we have six, that’s right, six bowling lanes. YES!  The theater that loops 30 second commercials is really swell as well.  Who wants to watch “movies” in a theater these days?! No, no, give me those awesome army music videos that take all of three minutes to stream.

With all this mentioned, I will pose a question; What do we do in HOME?

Do we….

Socialize?  Oh yea…because I love texting my dialogue on the overly slow virtual keyboard, and I most certainly love my thumbs getting tangled on the useless (and overpriced) controller keypad.  It makes perfect sense that gamers go into home to ’socialize,’ but when communication itself is not convenient it begs the question.  Also, in the case of voice chat…wait….what voice chat?

Play games?  Oh yea…because I love playing a really dumb downed version of echochrome.  I also love ice breaker; game of the year material right there.  Bowling is utterly pointless, because you can’t ever find a game that is open…because there are only six freaking lanes!  And when you finally do get to bowl, you ask yourself, “Why the hell did I want to bowl to begin with?”  Billiards?  Dude, the GTA4 minigame of billiards was much deeper than the HOME version.  And that’s sad.

Use HOME for extrinsic rewards?  Oh yea…because I love virtual tee-shirts and rainbow shoelaces.  Look, I’ll be the first to admit it, I am a trophy whore.  And sure, all trophies consist of are virtual (meaningless) awards that say, “Good Job to you sir, you beat this game on the hardest difficulty…now go show it off and brag.”  Besides bragging rights and trophy XP levels, there is not much you can do with them.  Sure, I’d love to trade out my trophy XP level of 10 in exchange for INFAMOUS for free.  Or Motorstorm Pacific rift.  That’s what extrinsic rewards are, not new SFIV shirts for free.  The fact of the matter is this; no one in their right mind is going to pick up SFIV for the PS3 because if they unlock trophies, they also get new virtual clothes in home!  No.  They will pick up a game for whatever system they feel most comfortable with, they like better, or whatever ones their friend has it on.  No one cares about virtual clothes, or furniture as rewards for picking up the game and playing it.  Until Microsoft or Sony start rewarding players with free Downloadable games, or disc based games, we gamers just simply don’t care.  Give us what gamers want…free games, free DLC, free movies.  Only then will we be persuaded to pick up a game for “your” console.

**edit:  To those who are saying, “It is not sopuused to be a system seller.”  Here you go..this is sony declaring HOME to be a system seller.

Track of the Day- Freestyle Edition 2 (3/14)

Posted by Killa-Indian | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Sunday 15 March 2009 7:25 am

Sorry this is late. I couldn’t post anything yesterday, so I will post yesterday’s track of the day along with today’s track of the day……….today.

Anyway..now this video has a lot of controversy. We all know Ahmad’s verses are written. He was just on the show, and he spit some of his writtens. No shame in that because his writtens are just fire and amazing (“Imma load all you phonies and bust your mainframes”). Now the controversy is Juice’s two freestyles. We do not know if it is written or an actual freestyle. I will tell you that Juice is an amazing freestyle I promise you. Search videos and watch him do his thing. So many people are convinced that it is written that it is funny. Actually it is off the dome, do doubt. He was literally in the zone, and he destroyed it. He is one of the greatest freestylers ever. I mean, he and Supernat are one of the bests. Now you guys let me know if it is written or a freestyle.
