Are The New CoD Games Turning Into Zombie Games?

Posted by Agent-X | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 8:21 pm

As I was playing CoD: WaW Nazi Zombie mode with my friends over on xbox live, I realized that the new Call of Duty games that are coming out now are turning to Zombie games.

I was playing the new Nazi level that was released with 3 other maps, and I had to say I was impressed it has improved more than the first level.

It has more items, weapons and the Zombie are much scarier, faster and stronger, Seriously I really enjoyed the Nazi Zombie mode on CoD more than Left4Dead.

The PC version of WaW has much more Zombie level, the reason why the PC version has much more levels Is because they are modded. Another thing is that CoD: MW2 will also be having the Nazi Zombie Mode.

But I’m pretty sure that Treyarch will hopefully port those levels to the 360 and PS3, and then we will see more action, so thats why I think the new CoD series are evolving to Zombie game and also has changed It’s genre not WW2 FPS but to Horror FPS.

The game gives me the creeps now…..Jokes

First Madden ‘10 Screenshot: Looks Amazing

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 7:32 pm

Not too shabby, huh? A very nice jump from ‘09 to ‘10 if you ask me. Peter Moore posted this photo on his blog today along with:

“We’re hitting the real sweet spot of development for this generation of consoles as the team is really hitting its stride in squeezing every ounce of power and capability from the hardware.” He went on to say “From everything I have seen in Madden NFL 10 so far this year, the authenticity of gameplay is showing striking improvement in physics, realism and responsiveness.”

So for you football gamers out there it’s time to get excited about the next generation of the Madden games. Hopefully the gameplay makes as big of a jump as the graphics have.

Question:

Who should be the Madden Cover Player?

I’m going with Ben Roethlisberger. Two Super Bowls in four years, and one of the five best quarterbacks in the league. Seems like a good pick to me. I’d also be happy with Larry Fitzgerald or Adrian Peterson.

The world’s first console-based Alternate Reality Game starts today in PlayStation Home.

Called Xi , the adventure takes place in a series of secret areas in Home – and beyond – changing day by day, week by week, in real time. Anyone with a PLAYSTATION 3 can join in the fun for free.

To discover the mystery of Xi, simply log on to PlayStation Home and look for the graffiti on the wall in the main square. Find that, and all will be revealed….

Thoughts:

I haven’t explored this new “game” yet, but it intrigues me. Hopefully this new feature helps take HOME to a new level, and encourages gamers to interact with the online community. I’m going to check it out as soon as I can, but leave your impressions down below so we can see how we feel about XI.

Final Fantasy VII AC: Complete Coming Out June 7th in US

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 6:56 pm

Sony has announced that they will bring ‘Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete’ to Blu-ray on June 7th. Video will be presented in 1.78:1 1080p AVC accompanied by both English and Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtracks. Additionally, English subtitles will be available for those who which to watch the film using the original Japanese soundtrack.

Extras for this release include:

  • -”Legacy of FINAL FANTASY VII” Featurette
  • -”Reminiscence of FINAL FANTASY VII” Original Story Digest
  • -On the Way to a Smile – Episode: Denzel Animated Film
  • -”Reminiscence of FINAL FANTASY VII Compilation” Story Digest
  • -Exclusive Sneak Peek at FINAL FANTASY XIII
  • -Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Trailers

My Thoughts:

While it’s nice for American fans of the movie to get a copy of Advent Children: Complete it doesn’t really matter unless we get the demo of Final Fantasy XIII like the Japanese. The movie is decent, but it’s already a few years old and even the Blu-Ray features aren’t enough to warrant the purchase without the Final Fantasy XIII demo. Hopefully, that sneak peak into the game is more than what it sounds like. It would be completely unfair to American fans of the game who have patiently waited for FFXIII to only get a trailer with 10 secs of new footage, while others get a 2 hour demo.

This is for only the hardcore FFVII fans without the demo.

Fourth Console Announced

Today at GDC mobile giant Qualcomm has announced its own console, the Zeebo. The Device is totally supported with digital distribution, is only for emerging markets like Brazil, Mexico and India.  Zeebo is about the size of a Wii, “built from the ground up to be cool looking but meet the requirements of the emerging market”. It features a Qualcomm chipset, with a 1GB of Flash memory, and includes a 3G data modem for over the air updates and downloads via its in-built UI. Titles are embedded in the system as well as downloaded, and all the content is distributed ‘digitally, wirelessly and securely’.

Chief of Germany’s National Police Union Wants to Ban Violent Games

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 3:37 pm

If the head of Germany’s Police Union had his way, violent video games would be banned. The comments from Heini Schmitt, head of the Hessen German Police Union (DPolG), were made following a horrific school shooting at a Winnenden, Germany, secondary school.

17-year-old Tim Kretschmer  reportedly murdered 15 school goers, both students and teachers — fourteen of which were female — before taking his own life.

According to German news site Echo Online, an addiction to “killergames” is apparent in “every situation” of violent rampages. Whether or not the site is making a statement specific to Germany or a sweeping judgment on worldwide violence is unclear. As for Schmitt, he is aware there is no evidence that violent video games cause violent behavior, but thinks the role of “killergames” cannot be “completely dismissed.” With that in mind, Schmitt believes when an opportunity exists to remove a potentially violent stimulus, it must be used. “The world would be no poorer if there were no more killergames,” the chief of the German police union added.

It’s difficult to analyze, or even dismiss, Schmitt’s claims following such a horrific act. However, it’s even more difficult to gauge any psychological triggers that exist in our society. After all, throughout history violent behavior has been blamed on almost everything, but because of their graphic nature, mature games have become the easiest target to publicly lambaste.

CryEngine 3 Teaser Video

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 3:21 pm

**WATCH IN WIDESCREEN OR PLAY IN HIGH-RES**

The above video was shown today at GDC demonstrating the new CryEngine 3 by Crytek. For those of you who don’t know, Crytek is the developer of PC shooter Crysis. This engine though is built with the consoles in mind, and the above trailer shows footage from both the PS3 and Xbox 360. This is only a tech demo and no official games have been announced for this engine, but expect to hear something in the coming months in regards to this engine. This engine seems amazing from the teaser and whatever Crytek does decide to put out will be one of the better looking current gen games on consoles.

What are your thoughts on the engine?

Where Is The Respect For The 360?

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 23 March 2009 3:15 pm

Competing against industry giants Nintendo and Sony is no easy task. The the people at Microsoft know first hand just how hard it can be. In order to compete it is a must for a console to stand out from the crowd in order to provide potential customers a reason to buy the system. This current generation has seen more innovative moments than any previous generation. One of the biggest innovations ever in the industry has been the 360’s Achievement system. Microsoft’s Achievement system has been blatantly copied by both Nintendo and Sony. The 360 also is known for having the best online gaming community. In fact Xbox Live has set the standard in online gaming. So where is the respect?Ever since the 360 was released in 2005 Nintendo and Sony have both basically laughed in the face of Microsoft. Nintendo is in one corner raking in the dough aloof to both the 360 and PS3. While Sony is in the other corner withering in denial. All the while both Companies owe the 360 debt of gratitude.

Sony owes a lot to the innovation’s that the 360 has brought the industry this generation. PS3’s Trophy system is not just a cheap rip off of Achievements. Trophies are the PS3’s answer to Achievements. Fans clamored for them and  critics called out Sony for not having them. Sony had no choice but to answer back. Once trophies came out they became a huge success for Sony and have even become a selling point for PS3 games. In my opinion the PS3’s Trophies are even better than the 360’s Achievements because there is an actual reason besides pride to collect them. Sony used what Microsoft had developed, made it better and in the process gave no respect to the 360 in return. Even Sony fan boys don’t seem willing to give any kind of respect to Microsoft.

The fact is that back when the 360 was released everyone said that it would flop. Common opinion told us that when the PS3 dropped it would be game over for the 360 and here we are now, it is 2009 now and the 360 is still on top. Microsoft gave birth to the next-generation and they are the company that is driving it. Sony and Nintendo may have different goals but there should be no denying that the 360 is a formidable foe. One that should not be disrespected. Especially by Sony of all people.

It’s no wonder that Microsoft has a chip on their shoulder lately. Mr. Greenbergs latest comments may have seemed harsh, but someone has toot the 360’s horn. The press gush over Nintendo and pine over the failure of Sony. While the 360 just sits there like little boy wishing he was part of the big boy club. Credit is due where credit is due. A little pat on the back could go a long way towards stopping anymore of Mr. Greenberg’s future competition bashing tirades.
