A Sony developer from GDC revealed that the highly anticipated 2.70 update for PS3 will be release some time this week. Now no details were revealed in terms of what to expect but I’m sure that all of those rumored features will be here in this update.

Rumored features expected in 2.70 are:

-In game chat

-Voice messaging

-More home game launching

So what do you guys think? Will 2.70 include these features or will we have to wait for 2.80?

New 3rd Party Motion Control for 360

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 6:40 pm

The Gametrak Freedom is a 3rd party motion video-game controller being developed by Performance Designed Products (PDP) for the Xbox 360. The device was revealed back in September for both the 360 and PS3, but over the past 6 months the controller has changed dramatically. Currently it is only scheduled to be released on the Xbox 360 this year, and the design went from a black nun-chuck design to the model you see above. There is potential that a PS3 version will be released next year, but so far nothing has been confirmed and no PS3 model has been revealed.

Below is a trailer of Squeeball, a game being developed by PDP that will make use of the motion control:

At GDC they are showing off the new controller and revealing information about the functionality of it. They are working with third-party developers to make games that make use of the controls, and also working on multiple first party titles. Currently there is no price on the product, but expect a Q4 release and more details at E3.

Where the Wild Things Are

On October 16th Maurice Sendak’s classic book “Where the Wild Things Are” comes to the big screen in an adventure tale for every generation.

I am really looking forward to this movie. I cannot speak for everyone but I have read this book as a child almost 100 times. I hope they do it some justice and I really hope it still has that same feel it did when I was a kid.

Aritst: Jay-Z

Song: Brooklyn Go Hard

Album: Notorious Soundtrack/Blueprint 3

Verse: 2nd Verse

I father, I Brooklyn Dodger them
I Jack, I Rob, I sin
Awww man, I’m Jackie Robinson
Except when I run base, I dodge the pen
Lucky me, lucky we, they didn’t get me
Now when I bring the Nets I’m the Black Branch Ricky
From Brooklyn corners, burnin branches of sticky
Spread love, Biggie, Brooklyn, hippie
I pity, the fool with jewels like Mr. T
With no history in my borough, they borrow
With no intentions of returnin, tomorrow
The sun don’t come out for many, like Annie
Half orphan, mama never had an abortion
Papa sort of did, still I managed to live
I go hard, I owe it all to the crib
Now please tell me, what the fuck’s harder than this!!!!

Bethesda pulls “The Pitt” from XBL after problems occur

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 1:40 pm

The above image shows one of the few problems with the new Fallout 3 DLC, “The Pitt”. Supposedly people downloading the game-expansion are suffering problems like freezes, glitching, and floating orange exclamation points. After a majority of users suffered these issues, Bethesda pulled the DLC from Marketplace to fix the issue, and released this statement:

“We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly.”

Killzone 2 Vs. CryEngine 3 Follow Up: Comparison

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 11:49 am

Yesterday gaming journalist’s and gamers all over the world were finally shown Crytek’s CryEngine 3.  Although the video shown was just a technical showcase demo for the engine, a few things were clearly evident. First of all The engine looks absolutely stunning. Explosions, lighting, and dynamic physics all look more realistic than anything seen on consoles previously. If game developers utilize the engine right it looks like Sony’s most prized possession Killzone 2 could be surpassed graphically. Two weeks ago HHGShow.com brought to the online worlds attention the possibility of games using the CryEngine 3 looking better than Killzone 2. After yesterday Fan boys around the world should be on notice. It looks like there is a new king in town. Now lets compare. Let us know what you think.

New Star Wars Levitation Toy

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 10:14 am

A company out of the US, Uncle Milton,  has come out with a toy called the Star Wars Force Trainer. The toy uses EEG technology to transmit your alpha and beta brainwaves from a head set to wirelessly drive a motor which powers a fan that sends a sphere up a tower. You can progress from Padawan to Jedi Master, as you use “The Force Trainer” through 15 levels of Jedi training. Along the way you will be encouraged by Obi Wan, Darth Vader and, of course, Yoda helping you with training tips and sound effects. The better your concentration, the more you are able to control the fan and the sphere rises.

According to Uncle Milton’s website the Star Wars Force Trainer will be available July 23rd. I also saw that it will be available in Australia in September. I will assume it will probably make it to UK shores around the same time.

NDreams Unveils New PlayStation Home Hidden Clues Game

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 10:06 am

Developer nDreams has revealed a handful of details about the newly announced Xi, an alternate reality game that claims to be the first centered on a games console.

Based in hidden locations throughout PlayStation Home, Xi challenges players to follow an adventure that features clues hidden in-game, across the web and in the real world. To keep the narrative of the game secret, presently very few details of Xi’s workings have been confirmed.

Xi is free to play, and available in a number of languages. A piece of graffiti in PlayStation Home’s main square acts as the first clue for those looking to join in with the adventure.

Alternate reality games began with print publications like Kit William’s cult picture book Masquerade, and have since been used in card games like Perplex City, and as promotional works for video games, such as Halo 2’s I Love Bees.

Video Game Skillz Killz Man In Japan

Posted by The_Faceless | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 24 March 2009 9:51 am

Here we go again! More news to give gaming a bad name. Is anyone else sick to death of stupid mentally deficient kids and their non-existent parents? Check this out.

Over the weekend in Osaka’s Higashiyodogawa Ward, a 58 year-old man was knocked off his bicycle by a car and dragged 180 meters (almost 600 feet) in a hit-and-run accident. The victim suffered serious injuries, and the driver was arrested by the police. The suspect is a 14 year-old junior high school girl from Osaka’s Toyonaka City..

There were three male middle school students in the car, and it was originally thought the girl was a scapegoat — until she gave an official statement. She told Yodogawa Police Station authorities in an affidavit, “I was confident in my video game driving, so I wanted to try the real deal… That day was the first time I had ever driven a real car.” Apparently, the girl had been “practicing” driving on arcade games. She decided that she had gotten so good at video games, she ought to try an actual car and thus swiped the keys to her father’s small mini-van.
