Hi-Tek ft. Nas, Common, Floerty- Music for Life (J-Dilla tribute)

This is a powerful song. Really deep and lyrics. Love this song, and just listen to J-Dilla’s message. He has a real passion for music, and you can tell that by listening to his voice. Nas always does good, and same goes with Common. Hi-Tek did a good job too, which is surprising at first, since he is a producer. Bustarhymes is at the end where he talks about music, etc.
Really nice song, and I encourage everyone to listen to it to the end at least once.
RIP J-Dilla

Double Dribble Coming to iPhone

Posted by bakerboy | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 March 2009 3:50 pm

With all the talk about the iPhone being a viable gaming solution, its no surprise to see some of the industry’s most renowned developers jump on board. Retro hoop fans should now rejoice being that Double Dribble, one of the classic hoops titles from the NES, will be making its way to an iPhone near you.

Why Its Hot

Virtual hoop fans will definitely appreciate the ability to enjoy one of the favorite retro classics on the go. Also, the iPhone continues to grow in the minds of consumers as not only a capable smartphone, but as a gaming device as well. It is also worth noting that the iPhone contains enough horsepower to theoretically run games comparable to those of the PSP. This will help to ensure that on-the-go players are given an enjoyable experience. Another plus is the fact that the game is going to ship with several different mini-games and other features that will better ensure the title’s longevity.

Why Its Not

The iPhone’s interface is a large detractor for many users that are used to traditional physical buttons. Many gamers that want to jump over to the iPhone platform find it very difficult to get used to this one aspect. Not only that, users may also struggle with the the limited screen real estate being that your fingers will be all over the screen in order to play the game. In my opinion, this one aspect alone makes it difficult to fully embrace the iPhone as a fully capable gaming platform.

The Wrap-up

All in all, there are still legions of Double Dribble fans out there waiting to get there hands on this title. Although there isn’t a solid release date as of yet, expect this title to be making its way to an iPhone near you in the near future.

Crytek Announces, “We’re in a League of Our Own.”

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 March 2009 2:48 pm

Introduction

Ever since the release of Crysis in 2007, Crytek has been known for the amount of raw power they put into their games. When it comes to graphics, lighting, and physics, Crytek has been the champ since 2007. Though over the past few months with releases like Gears of War 2 and Killzone 2, Crytek has had some serious competition for the crown of “power” champs. Though with the reveal of the CryEngine 3 for consoles, Crytek wants to prove to the gaming world that they are still the champs when it comes to the “power” they put into games.

“We’re in a league of our own.”

In a interview with our very own HipHopGamer at last weeks GDC, a member of Crytek’s development team announced to the gaming world, “We’re in a league of our own” when comparing Crysis to other first-person shooters on the market.

The natural progression from PC’s to consoles was always planned

With the CryEngine 3 coming out for consoles, one of the reasons that Crytek is doing this is to cement their legacy in the gaming world. Currently, they are one of the most beloved studio’s to PC gamers, but haven’t gotten the respect they believe is due from non-PC gamers. With CryEngine 3, the guys at Crytek hope to change the way we see and play console games. These guys have always been very competitive when it comes to putting out a great product, and now that they have their place in PC history they want to cement their legacy with console gaming.

While there is no official word on what specific title is in the works…

HipHopGamer got some small hints from the staff at Crytek that they may be working on Crysis for the consoles and maybe something from a different genre other than first-person shooter. Either way it’s great for console games to expierence the power and detail that Crytek puts into all their games on the consoles. Crytek hopes to bring a game of Crysis quality visuals to the consoles, and this would be great for gamers everywhere. If they are able to do this then Crytek will do something gamers once thought was impossible on consoles: Bring Crysis quality visuals to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Can’t wait to see what the guys at Crytek have up their sleeve. All we do know is that when Crytek announces they are in a league of their own, you listen.

PlayStation 3 and PSP in one bundle!

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 March 2009 12:44 pm

PS3Hype writes: ‘Today the Media Markt in Germany is kicking of their own bundle. A PS3 and a PSP system together. This for a price of €399,-. You will get the PSP for free. Is this a sign that we can expect a price drop? Or that Sony pushes the retailers to bundle the two hardware pieces together?

Hip-Hop White Boy Song Review (Viagra!!)

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 March 2009 1:19 am

Artist: 88 Keys ft. Kanye West

Song: Stay Up Viagra

Album: The Death of Adam (‘08)

Review:

What really sucked me into this song was the smooth beat. The chorus isn’t the best, but the song throughout is very solid. 88 Keys is the man, and hopefully he pulls a Kanye. What I mean by that is go from great producer to great MC. 88 Keys has been in the industry as a producer since 1999 and has worked with guys like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Beanie Siegel, and many more. I’d also like to add that it’s nice to hear old-school Kanye West, and not the retarded chipmunk voice he was pulling in 808’s and Heartbreak. Overall the song is pretty fun to listen to and the beat is great. I suggest you check out the album if you like the song.

Score: 4 out of 5

Feature: One Thing OnLive Should have done at GDC

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 28 March 2009 1:01 am

After spending the past week reading up on everything related to the new game platform OnLive, I’ve found myself in a interesting predicament. I’ve seen the videos and read the reviews, and like the feedback I’m hearing on the software. I’m hopeful this new service works because it would be great for gamers everywhere, and would especailly be great for me as a college student. There is just one thing I can’t figure out.

Why didn’t they actually tell us the hardware they are using?

Now they’ve told us how the service is supposed to work and requirements on the users side, but why not go more in-depth on their servers and the hardware on their end? In every interview I’ve watched with OnLive employees, the only response they use to their servers is along the lines of, “We’ve created new technology that makes this possible.” While that is great, what is this “new technology” you speak of? Give us specifics on it. The reason most gamers are doubtful about OnLive is because we don’t believe the servers are capable of handiling what the OnLive company has promised.

Even on the official website they don’t delve into specifics…

All I know is that OnLive’s servers will have high end CPU’s and GPU’s in them. This is kind of strange considering this was the “Game Developers Conference”, so if you really wanted to reveal stuff such as hardware specs then I think this would be a much better place than E3. Why not reveal the console, and instead of showing gamers “Lego:Batman”, instead they actually show the hardware behind the service.

Anyone else agree on this?

That it would have been wise for them to explain their servers in more details to us? Yes, what they showed was nice, but if they want people to believe that there hardware can work then explain what is under the hood.

Jeff Gerstmann is a very well respected game journalist. Though he has ran into troubles with Gamespot in the past, he’s gone off to create his very own site named Giantbomb. Hiphopgamer caught up with him at GDC and asked him about his thoughts on infamous; he said it is looking great.
