Aritst: Jay-Z

Song: Brooklyn Go Hard

Album: Notorious Soundtrack/Blueprint 3

Verse: 2nd Verse

I father, I Brooklyn Dodger them
I Jack, I Rob, I sin
Awww man, I’m Jackie Robinson
Except when I run base, I dodge the pen
Lucky me, lucky we, they didn’t get me
Now when I bring the Nets I’m the Black Branch Ricky
From Brooklyn corners, burnin branches of sticky
Spread love, Biggie, Brooklyn, hippie
I pity, the fool with jewels like Mr. T
With no history in my borough, they borrow
With no intentions of returnin, tomorrow
The sun don’t come out for many, like Annie
Half orphan, mama never had an abortion
Papa sort of did, still I managed to live
I go hard, I owe it all to the crib
Now please tell me, what the fuck’s harder than this!!!!

Jay Z was never the King of NY. He appears to be commercially, but he will get destroyed by plenty of MCs. KRS One will crush Jay, Supernat would destroy Jay in a battle and so will Juice. Nas whooped his ass with Ether, and Nas is definitely better than Jay. Talib and Mos Def are amazing. I mean the list of amazing New York artists is vast, and Jay will and can get slaughtered by many more talented rappers. Jay just sold his soul to get fame and fortune. He will never take BIGGIE’s place. That King of NY shit is Biggie’s commercially as well. Many say Big L deserves the King of NY status, and I somewhat agree. Go listen to Big L’s songs. They are nice too. He better than Jay as well….RIP Big L. Ohh that shit ain’t different. Think about it. That verse is really really weak.

I love the verse because it’s different. Jay is still the king OF NY. Who took his crown?

Is this as good as his older work? Not really, but it is fresh IMO

weak verse………..better than most mainstream, but the shit is not as amazing as Jay Z’s older work. I still am not a big fan of him. Man…..give that beat to some of the better artists, and they can destroy it. Jay Z is not great anymore, and will never be the king of NY.
