1UP Reveals New PSP Model (No UMD Drive)

The guys at 1UP are reporting that the new PSP model will be called the “PSP Go!”. The console will bypass a UMD drive in favor of either a 8 or 16 GB internal hard drive. They are reporting that the console will be revealed at E3 this year, and that Japan will get it in September while the US will get it in either October or November.
The console will have 100 classic PSP titles available at launch for download. The system will have the basic layout you see in the picture to the side, but note the picture to the side is not an official picture of the PSP Go!, it’s just a photo 1UP put together to convey an idea of what it looks like. No 2nd analog nub will be featured in this revision which may upset some fans. The console is rumored to have a touch screen and camera also featured on it.
This all came out after 1UP accidentally mentioned the PSP Go! in their podcast “at1UP”. The podcast has since been edited to remove the part where their editors talk about the new system. Instead they published an article reporting all these facts as “rumors”. It more than likely seems like they did this to not embarrass themselves to their readers and not burn bridges with Sony.

Both my article an 1UP’s says that the photo is not a real photo of the system. It’s just an idea of what it looks like. I’m sure 1UP is not allowed to post a real photo just yet.

sorry, i’m going to have to call bogus on this, especially that picture.
the fact that this new psp doesn’t have another analog stick makes sense. if sony had to put another analog stick they would do it on the official psp2 and its too early to release the psp2 seeing as the psp is just starting to do well.
