Red Steel 2 Trailer

Check out the new trailer for Red Steel 2. The trailer already looks better and more fun than the original Red Steel. The art style looks amazing and this is another hardcore game for the Wii. Hope they make the shooting element right this time. They will probably copy the Conduits shooting mechanism (the way it works). Another thing that seems to have improved is the sword play. Hope that this will a very good game, because Wii needs more games for the hardcore.

Alice Returns to a Darker and More Sinister Wonderland

Alice enters the darkside:

EA and Spicy Horse are teaming up to make a sequel to the 2000 title American McGee’s Alice. American McGee’s Alice was a third person action title for the PC. The player is immediately introduce to an older and disturbed Alice. In the game, Alice’s parents were burned alive in accidental fire cause by her cat. Afterwards, Alice is devastated by the tragedy and becomes suicidal, because of the guilt of being the only survivor.

She’s then institutionalize at the Ruthledge Asylum. A couple of years later, the white rabbit visits Alice and tells her she must return to Wonderland to save the creatures from the evil queen of hearts. Throughout the game, Alice is accompanied by the annoying Cheshire cat, who gives her advice here and there.

So what can fans expect from the sequel?:

The follow-up to American McGee’s Alice has been in development for about 2 years. The game play remains under wraps, but the story is supposedly darker than the first one according David DeMartini, senior vice president and general manager EA partners.

Closing comments:

Alice in Wonderland is one of the most famous piece of literature in the world. However, seeing it appeal to a mature audience just doesn’t work with me. The most unrated thing, throughout the whole “Alice in Wonderland” world is, “off with his head”. But hey, what do I know? Obviously enough people picked up the first title in order for them to make a sequel. Stay tuned for more information.

Spore’s Creature Count Hits 100 Million, What Does It Portend?

VentureBeat.com writes:

“Electronic Arts announced today that the number of creatures created for the game Spore has crossed 100 million.

That sounds wildly successful, and it certainly means that some fans love the game’s ability to create your own creature and then upload it to the Sporepedia web site. But it doesn’t yet mean that the game, which debuted in September, is a smashing success.

In Spore, you can create your own microbe, creature, civilization, and space-faring race. Created over seven years, the game had some of the best hype in history, including a cover story in Wired magazine with Spore creator Will Wright on the cover. Wright’s previous game, The Sims, sold more than 100 million units, counting expansion pack sales that upgraded the game with new content every six months or so. Wright recently left to start his own company, The Stupid Fun Club.

Wright said in a recent talk at the Web 2.0 Expo that he was happy with the sheer volume of user-generated content related to Spore. And while he said that hardcore gamers were disappointed with the game’s lack of depth, he was pleased that non-gamers and casual gamers liked it as something different.

But the intense love that some users have for Spore doesn’t mean the game will be as successful as EA might have hoped. EEDAR, a game market research firm, estimates that Spore sales have hit 2.8 million worldwide. The figure hits about 3.2 million if you count the Spore Creature Creator, a $10 game that includes only the creature creation function.

But the problem is that since December, Spore sales have been declining. That means that the game is following the pattern for a typical big game release. It’s not following the pattern of The Sims, which was the rare case that saw an increase in sales over time.

Jesse Divnich, an analyst at EEDAR, says that the sales of Spore are definitely good enough to justify sequels and expansion packs. He also believes that it has more legs than the typical retail title that comes and goes quickly. EA announced that it has such projects under way, such as Spore Galactic Adventures. But as for being a smash runaway hit, it looks like that isn’t happening.”

My Thoughts: Having a couple of Spore creatures myself, i am really glad that Spore is still alive, well, and keeping fans hooked to their keyboards. Keep it up EA!

Lloyd Banks Looks Beyond G-Unit & Interscope, “I’m A Grown Man Now”

As talk of Lloyd Banks leaving Interscope records increases, the G-Unit rapper has revealed his recent collaborations outside of his rap group, including new records with Jadakiss, Fabolous, Juelz Santana.

Despite the tight-knit association with his G-Unit camp, Banks has expressed his recent motivation to work with other artists.

“I got a track called ‘My Way or Nothing’ with Uncle Murda,” Banks said in an interview regarding his new mixtape. “I’m a fan of a lot of these emcees. A lot of people got egos…If you like somebody’s record you won’t say it because of your ego? I reached out to Nipsey Hussle too…I’m just trying to get in there and mix magic and work with a lot of these artists I’ve appreciated over the years. I got a record in the works now with me, Juelz, Fabolous and Jadakiss called ‘Welcome to New York.’ I’m waiting to get the final touches on that. I’m a grown man now. Everybody gotta get their grown man on and get in to the studio and make magic.”

Banks also cleared up the Interscope rumor — he hasn’t been signed to the label since 2007, when he fulfilled his contractual requirements. He hasn’t decided what label his next album will be on, but 50 Cent will definitely have it under his umbrella. He’ll continue to drop mixtapes in the meantime — it’s like practice. (MTV)

Banks spoke with SOHH in the past about his issues with rappers who taunt his camp.

“I have a feud with anybody who has ever said anything negative about me or anybody standing next to me,” Banks explained. “These are the principles. It shouldn’t be a f*cking puzzle. When they get out there, you from the streets, so you know. If you smack my n*gga in the face, next time we see you we gon hurt you. I’m definitely not f*cking with you. I’m not here to make friends.”

Every Publisher Is Interested in Home, Says Sony

every-publisher-is-interested-in-home-says-sony-21

Online services are currently one of the most important features for any console on the market, because a lot of customers are interested in not only gaming, but also in online interactivity. That is why the top three manufacturers, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, are fighting it out online.

Among the most interesting online services is Sony’s PlayStation Home, a feature aimed at providing a true social network for all PlayStation 3 users, where they can interact with friends or meet other people with the same hobbies as them.

While at the opening of the beta stage of the program you couldn’t really do a lot of things, more and more companies are getting in Sony’s Home and are launching new spaces and activities. This is largely due to the fact that these companies can interact with the users themselves, Jack Buser, director of Home for Sony Computer Entertainment, who has talked with GamesIndustry about this service, says.

“Every major publisher is interested in Home. Here you can speak directly to the PlayStation audience on the platform that your product is on,” Buser shares. “You have publishers and brands coming into Home looking to engage with an audience, but they also have the opportunity to generate revenue. It’s a model that makes sense for everybody. It’s kind of a perfect storm.”

With companies such as EA Sports, Activision, or Capcom firmly behind the service and more scheduled to bring new things to it, the program is looking extremely interesting to both other video game publishers and to PlayStation 3 users who haven’t created a Home account just yet.

Hopefully, this service will push the boundaries or other similar programs and we will all experience solid online services no matter what console we may own.
