The XXL Editors received this letter from Louis Vuitton concerning the May 2009 cover of Rick Ross.

Dear Editor:

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Pantalony, Esq.

Talk about a bold statement. Developer Bethesda Games, know for the Fallout titles, are feeling pretty good about their newest project with Splash Damage in Europe, enough to call it a both a “genre-breaker” and a “killer app.”

“We’re not announcing the name yet, but it’s a first-person shooter. That’s a product that we believe is a genre-breaker, it’s a real killer app,” European managing director Sean Brennan told GamesIndustry.biz.

“From a quality perspective we’re pitching that along the same lines as Fallout 3. We’ve kept it under lock and key, there are so many innovative features in there we don’t want to reveal them too soon. We’ve spent significant resources developing the title. And that’s a great example of our European work.”

Gran Turismo To Get Car Damage, Yes, “Soon”

Hilarious. Gran Turismo series creator (and professional procrastinator) Kaz Yamauchi has said that car damage – whose absence has long been the achilles heel of the venerable racing series – will be introduced “soon”.

In an interview with an official Audi promo piece on the Audi R8 from earlier in the year (February), Yamauchi says that GT fans can not only expect to see in-race weather changes in the future, but “we will soon be able to simulate damage to the cars” as well.

Course, this was meant to happen in Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Then didn’t. Then it was meant to be released later, via a patch for the title. Hasn’t happened. Which leads us to think he probably means it’ll be introduced in Gran Turismo 5 proper, which means we can expect it in, oh, 2012.

Earlier today, Eidos-Montreal have confirmed the company is working on the fourth sequel in the popular Thief franchise. The general manager of the company stated that, “We’re in the early development stages for Thief 4, but this is an incredibly ambitious and exciting project for Eidos. While it’s too early for us to offer any specific game details, right now we are focused on recruiting the very best talent to join the core team at the studio and help us make what we believe will be one of the most exciting games on the market.”

No release date has been announced for this title yet, but you can expect to here some more information at this year’s E3.

CyberConnect2 Currently Developing New PS3 Exclusive

PSXextreme.com Writes:

“It seems like every time we turn around, our eyes fall upon another PlayStation 3 exclusive, and we’re finally starting to see a few from third-party developers.

Examiner.com spotted the latest: CyberConnect2 is apparently working on a new PS3 exclusive, and some are already theorizing that it’s a sequel to Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm, the solid fighter that came out last year. On the other hand, RPG fanatics are hoping it’s a resurrection of the long-running PS2 franchise, .hack, which featured multiple installments over a few years time. We don’t know anything about this new game, but it seems the developer will be “looking to recruit new team members in an event on June 6 to help out on both of their upcoming games.” The other title in question is To the World for the Nintendo DS, which may or may not be a spiritual successor to CyberConnect2’s 1999 PlayStation title, Tail Concerto. Anyway, considering the ongoing popularity of Naruto, it seems very likely that another entry in the series is coming, and that’s great news for the avid fans. But for those of us who never really got into the Japanese anime craze, we’re hoping for something entirely different…a complete departure from the norm can be healthy for any developer. Well, provided they don’t bite off more than they can chew.

We assume this is just another new title that’s going to make its presence felt at E3 in a few weeks. If it is indeed on display at the show, we promise to let you know about it ASAP.”

My Thoughts: Sony is starting to get a lot of exclusive titles, should Mircosoft be worried at E3?

Capcom focus on Xbox 360 Lost Planet 2, demo for E3

play.tm Writes

“We’re are only working on the 360 version of Lost Planet 2 right now,” NowGamer were told.

The producer also lets slip that a demo of the new game should be ready in time for this summer’s E3, which kicks off in June. What price an unveiling of that in Microsoft’s pre-conference press briefing?

Despite the 360 clearly being the focus, rumours persist that a PS3 version of Lost Planet 2 will soon be confirmed none the less.

Team Blur to bring out 2 Multiplatform Titles

Posted by Agent-X | Microsoft, PC, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 11 May 2009 12:38 am

I’ve just recently spoke with one of the Team Blur lead designers which name is kept anonymous. He has told me that him and his team are planning on bringing out 2 titles which are coming out for both 360/PC.

All I can say is that the first game will be a FPS similar to quake and that there 2nd title will also be a FPS survival horror game, which is amazing, I don’t know when these games will be making their way to the platforms but he only mentioned that they are both FPS games and are coming to the 360/PC.

I don’t think they will be coming to the PS3 because he didn’t mention anything about the PS3 at all just the 360 and PC, it may be because FPS games don’t go good on the PS3 and are only suited for the 360 and PC but hey I’m not 50% sure we just have to wait and see.

This guy has also worked on mods aswell over the past few years for games such as quake 2, Duke Nukem and many other great games but it’s about time that there working on these titles.

So again I cannot say who this person is he is kept anonymous, I will be back with more info soon.
