Team ICO’s “Project TRICO” leaked footage

Do not watch if you do not want to ruin anything

Just take a look at the video. Clearly the game has elements of ICO like Team ICO lead Fumito Ueda said. The main character resembles that of ICO and it has the environment of Shadow of the Colossus. Seems like a good marriage to me. My assumption is that you control both the creature and the boy (obviously), and there will be segments where you have to defend yourself as the creature (look at the arrows in the creatures fur). It is quite clear what you can expect by just watching this video. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus combined with new features. I hope to see more at E3.

PSN Down, But Why?

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 19 May 2009 1:49 pm

For some time today, the PSN was been down completely. Usually it’s either the store or online gaming but now you can’t even sign in to see your friends. This is at the very least only in the west coast. Upon turning on the PS3, a message popped up in the corner informing me that the PSN was currently undergoing maintenance.

Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

Update: PSN back on, though the reason it was down still unclear.

Why BioWare Are The Baddest Mofo’s In The Gaming Industry

Posted by MattG | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 19 May 2009 5:32 am

The two most important things to gamers when it comes games is quality and quantity. Gamers want a lot of great games, and want them to be worth every penny. BioWare, the king of Western RPGs, is one of the few who actually lives up to this high standard, and might be the best at it.

Make a top five RPG list off the top of your head and chances are BioWare has at least one game on that list. Chances are they got 2-3. The company behind Mass Effect, Jade Empire, Knights of The Old Republic, and Baulder’s Gate have been making high quality products since 1995 when they started their company in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since then they have moved up the ranks to elite RPG developer specializing in both single player RPG’s and probably being only second to Blizzard when it comes to respect in the MMO world.

This E3, BioWare looks once again to show off its muscle with three of the best looking games in the show coming from their studio. Mass Effect 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Dragon Age: Origins look to be some of the most exciting RPGs coming out in the next year.

Mass Effect 2 continues the story of the first game as Commander Shepard and the Normandy continue their fight to stop the Reapers from once again destroying all organic life in the universe. The team working on the project says that with the modified Mass Effect engine the game looks night and day better in the sequel. The combat system is also to be improved with more weapon options, and what seems to be a better aiming system.

BioWare also did this game a great justice by creating some questions about the storyline in the upcoming game. The first teaser trailer hints at the potential death of the main protagonist. Whether this is a marketing ploy to create intrigue or an actually possibility is unknown at the moment. The good thing about this is that in a world where the internet delivers too much information, it’s good to be unsure on whats to come of the game.

The story carries over from the first game, which is every RPG fans dream because everyone loves feeling that their decisions have an impact on the game. The story is set to be darker than the first, and really go in-depth on the history of the Reapers.

This game is looking to be better than the first, and that’s a big statement considering that the first game is one of the best of this generation. They are taking everything that was good in the first game and taking it to another level. If you haven’t had the pleasure of playing the first game, and love space epics then go check it out.

Talking about space epics, there is the Star Wars universe, and the guys at BioWare know all about Star Wars. While there have been many crappy games set in the Star Wars universe, one that can never be mentioned on those lists is Knights of The Old Republic 1. Many consider it to be the best RPG of all-time and it was easily one of the better games of the last generation. The game which originally came out on the Xbox and then the PC really did the Star Wars universe justice.

When it was announced that the Old Republic was going to be a MMO many fans of the original games were disappointed, but the media released by BioWare since the games reveal has shown that the game looks better than expected. The game actually looks like it can be one of the better MMO’s ever made. The team behind the game said the amount of the content they are putting into this project is enough to be equal to four or five KOTOR sequels.

The player will be able to choose between the Sith Empire and the Galatic Empire, and each will contain different classes with different stories. The game is set 3,500 years before the movies and 300 years after the last game.

One thing that is a shame is that the game is solely coming out for the PC which hurts the fans of the first two games who played them on the Xbox. Hopefully at E3 the consoles will get some love from this great looking title.

The third title they will be showing at E3 is not another space epic, but rather a throwback to the RPG world. Going back to their roots, BioWare is making Dragon Age: Origins which is the spiritual successor to Baulders Gate, the game that helped put BioWare on the map.

The game is set in a world of dragons and fantasy with BioWare’s typical mature themes. The player can play the game as one of the six origin characters which includes: Human Noble, City Elf, Dwarf Commoner, Dwarf Noble, Mage, Dalish Elf. Talk about re-playability when you get a game that contains 6 separate stories in a world that you control, like Mass Effect. Combat is real-time, and is a nice change of pace for the recent games BioWare has released.

BioWare continues to provide a great gaming experience for a wide variety of RPG fans. Want makes BioWare a great company is their ability to please the fans. They are the company that is made up of gamers, and their main mission is to please the consumer. Even though they are under the thumb of EA they continue to do their thing. How many other developers can say they have three AAA titles in development all set to be released in the near future. Rockstar, Kojima, Bethesda, etc. are all great companies but BioWare’s ability to constantly pump out AAA titles is unmatched. With E3 only two weeks away, how can you not appreciate how badass BioWare really is.

New Game The Hunter Announced From Avalanche Studios

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Tuesday 19 May 2009 5:24 am

More jobs being cut, I guess the recession is serious business in the gaming industry. Just Cause Developers Avalanche Studios has given 3 months notice for 15-20 empolyees damn. Even though that’s terrible news for the employees there is a bright side for us gamers and that is Just Cause 2 and a newly announced title called The Hunter from Emote games are still intact for release. Here’s A quote from Mr. Sunberg himself regarding this situation

just-cause_1

“It is a difficult business climate, but this is not nearly on the scale of the redundancies last year,” said Sunberg, referring to the laying off of staff last October.

Currently The Hunter does have a publisher and Eidos will be showing Just Cause 2 at E3′09 this year. Here’s another quote coming from Mr. Sundberg

“As any other company we need to manage risks and sometimes that unfortunately means that we have to give notice and lay off staff. It’s not more complicated than that,” added Sundberg.

Can’t wait to see The Hunter and Just Cause 2 this year at E3′09.

Peter Moore Will Speak During The Edinburgh Interactive Festival 2009

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 19 May 2009 3:51 am

Peter Moore will be in full effect at the festival discussing the challenges in re-inventing the EA Sports brand in our current video game market. Considering that the Nintendo Wii is so successful and EA releasing Wii playground it seems that Peter Moore is trying to expand the dominant brand even more, and he wants to help other developers do the same for their own brands as far as expanding. Here’s a quote from Peter Moore Himself

“I am honoured to be invited to deliver the opening keynote at the Edinburgh Games Festival. This event is a milestone on the interactive entertainment industry’s calendar, and I look forward to contributing to this year’s discussions,” said Moore.

Other speakers that are scheduled to attend the event are Jim Crowley , President and CEO of the Lord Of The Rings Online, as well as Sean Dromgoole of Some Research and GameVision who will discuss the current trend in the game industry.

This event seems very promising and could very well change a good bit of the direction the videogame industry is going in. Let’s just hope that it’s for the better.

The Edinburgh Interactive Festival Conference 2009 is due to take place on August 13 and 14.

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 19 May 2009 3:23 am

Various Wal-Marts are utilizing this method according to e-Play’s website, gamers will be able to sell games directly to Wal-Mart by inserting a game inside the machine receiving trade-in money on the fly, whether on their credit card or debit card. At the moment the trade – in prices are determined by e-Play based on what the company feels is a good enough price for the game title.
