Yesterday morning, Midway games corporate communications director Geoffrey Mogilner announced that, “Warner Bros. has put a bid down for the most of Midway’s assets.” Mogilner also stated, “Warner came in with an initial bid for $33 million for consideration for inventory accounts receivable and most of the US assets, including the Mortal Kombat and Wheelman assets”. However this offer does not include Midway’s Newcastle (UK) and San Diego studios, nor the TNA Impact Wrestling license, according to Mogilner.

Mogliner stated, “there’s going to be a bidding process initiated as soon as there’s hearing to approve this motion for about 30 days.” The bidding process ends with a hearing which will determine the winning bidder. It could be one group which buys pieces of Midway it could be one buyer that takes it all.” There’s other parties involved that are interesting in purchasing Midway’s assets, but Mogliner decided not to name the other companies. Hopefully they fall into the right hands, I wouldn’t mind seeing Epic making a true next-gen Mortal Kombat game.

New Bayonetta Trailer Leaked

Posted by MattG | Microsoft, PC, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Saturday 23 May 2009 5:36 pm

Platinum Games and Hideki Kamiya’s upcoming over the top hack-slash game, Bayonetta, had a new trailer leaked today. The trailer is pretty good for the game, and the action looks great. It definitely has the Devil May Cry feel to it, but with some very obvious new innovation. This game looks to be the best hack-slash game coming this year. Will be interesting to see more footage at E3.

5 Things That Would Be Nice To See At E3

New Metal Gear Reveal
Since the new Kojima teaser site went up a week ago, people have been buzzing about what the game could possibly be. Is it a new Metal Gear or is it a new IP? Well, while it would be great to see what Kojima could do on a new franchise, it would also be great to see him continue one of the all-time great franchises in the industry. Metal Gear Solid 4 was a all-time great game, and with a very good engine and story in place it would be fun to see where he takes the franchises. While he wants to start something new, he could still do that in the Metal Gear universe with a new protagonist. While a Kojima game would be great, a Metal Gear Solid would really bring a already strong E3 to another level.

Final Fantasy XIII Western Release Date
While I try to be somewhat professional when I write these things I’m going to sound like a angry message board fanboy in this rant. Seriously, Square Enix if you don’t reveal a general idea on when this game is coming out in the West, at America’s biggest gaming convention, then you guys have really dropped the ball. With recent reports coming out saying that Square Enixs CEO said that only god knows when FFXIII is coming out in Japan, it only makes Western fans of the franchise more depressed. We didn’t get a demo with Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete and really the West hasn’t gotten any major love from the game since you guys since the revealed it. It’s been in development for over 5 years, give us a damn bone!

Star Wars: The Old Republic On Consoles
Knights of The Old Republic was one of the few bright spots in the original Xbox’s game library. Many consider it to be one of the best RPG’s of all-time and easily the best Star Wars game released. With The Old Republic only being currently announced on the PC, it would be nice for EA and BioWare to show love to the console owners by bringing the future MMO-hit to the consoles. Even if it is just the 360, it would really be appreciated by those who enjoyed the first two Knights of the Old Republic games. It would also be a great starting point for MMO’s to consoles in a major game. It could really be just as revolutionary as the original KOTOR games were.

More Info on L.A. Noire
The game which was previously confirmed for a 2009-fiscal year release, has had no new trailer or info since it’s reveal a few years back. The game’s premise seems great, and it would be really interesting to see where this franchise is currently at. Will they hold the game back with Mafia II coming out later this year, and both games being open world and set in the same time period? Is it still exclusive to the PS3? And will we ever see any gameplay? Hopefully some of these questions will be answered at E3.

Halo 3: ODST Proves Itself
With no in-game footage on ODST being revealed to the public just yet, this game really hasn’t had the chance to wow critics and fans alike. E3 will be the grand reveal of the game, and probably the crown jewel of the Microsoft press conference. A Lot of time and effort will be spent on giving this Halo the proper love and care that it deserves. Bungie is not known for making bad games, and since they have been criticised for making a “glorified” expansion, they have a reason to prove people wrong. With a new protagonist, and gameplay opportunities in ODST, expect a lot of pleasantly good surprises from E3 and Halo.

Could Kojima’s next game be Lord of Shadow?

PSW

LoS

There has been news going around that Kojima’s next game, which will be featured in the new PSW magazine. Supposedly, it could be the new game that was announced called Lord of Shadow. See the Magazine cover, and see the screenshot below. I think it could be true, and the screenshot and siloutte. They look identical. So here is now, Kojima’s next game will most likely be Lord of Shadow!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 May Have The Edge Against Modern Warfare 2

Intro:

Call of duty has massacred the FPS genre with great gameplay , single player campaigns , and of course the infamous multi-player. The franchise alone keeps re-inventing itself and as far as competition goes, no game has been able sway the consumers away from the Call Of Duty series. Now that Modern Warfare 2 has been announced everyone is already making their claims stating that this game will once again be the best and revolutionize the FPS genre, but this time it won’t be that easy. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is here and it’s looks light years ahead of the previous version and definitely looks to be serious competition for Modern Warfare 2.

Point #1

Looking at the Bad Company 2 trailer you’ll notice that players will be on foot, in vehicles, and in the air with the combination of destruction and physics that Bad Company presents, Modern Warfare 2 will have to up the ante big time. Modern Warfare from what we’ve seen adds a lot more to the game as far as swimming missions, snow mobiles, helicopter gameplay and more but what keeps gamers coming back for more is the multi-player in which Modern Warfare 2 will be great but still limited in comparison to Bad Company. WHY?

Point #2

Bad Company 2 is a much more strategic game than Modern Warfare 2 and that combination usually result in a much more fun gameplay experience. (Example) playing Bad Company you don’t have to just worry about your enemies but you have to worry about the entire environment around you, because it can be used against you. You want to hide inside a house great but it won’t work for you because you’ll still get blown up, you want to stay in one place and snipe from a rooftop don’t, you will be blown away from it from the ground up. Things like that which adds so much more realism and fun to the overall experience and Bad Company 2 looks to expand on it simply because you can be in a plane, and what that means is that more and more environment activity will take place in this game, and it will literally be no place to hide.

Closing

We all have to wait and see how Bad Company 2 turns out when it’s released but as of right now according to the trailer and the previous version of this game. Gamers around the world are in store for something major.
