The countdown to E3:

E3 is less than a week away and the rumors appeared to be accumulating more and more. One topic I will like to discuss today is Capcom’s two mysterious titles that will supposedly be announced at this year’s E3.

Capcom’s first mysterious title 1:

Capcom announced not to long ago that two mysterious titles will be unveiled at this year’s E3 (if the swine flu doesn’t get in the way). One of the titles, according to Capcom, will not have as a big as impact of the other mysterious title. So what can this mysterious title be? Let the speculation begin.

Megaman X10:

Capcom doesn’t believe in killing a old franchise, so I wouldn’t be surprise if announced another Megaman game at this year’s E3. The Megaman X series stop entertaining me after the 5th installment, so if they can revive it someway or somehow, I say go for it.

Breath of Fire 6:

The Breath of Fire Series are incredible, for the gamers who don’t know about the BoF series, it’s about a boy named Ryu who can shape-shift into a freaking dragon! Breath of Fire 4 was the last in the series and I was hoping Capcom would make another in the series. If they do indeed decide to make another Breath of Fire, the combat will have to be revamped. Turn-based combat is a thing of the past, so it would be nice to see an action RPG from Capcom’s camp.

Viewtiful Joe 3:

What gamer doesn’t remember the avid movie-goer Joe? Viewtiful Joe was critically acclaimed for it’s unique and visual style. The gameplay features traditional 2D platform side-scrolling mixed with 3D cel-shaded graphics. Joe has these abilities called VFX powers, that allows him to slow down or speed  up time. If Capcom does anything else this year, they should highly consider bringing back this classic series, gamers keep you fingers crossed.

Okami 2:

Okami is one of the greatest action-adventure games ever made. It was developed by Clover Studio. It’s sort like the Legend of Zelda series, except Link is a dog. The story was deep and intriguing, it combines several Japanese myths, legend and folklore to explain how the story is unfold throughout the game. One thing that separated Okami from all the other action-adventure titles was the gameplay. The players were introduced to the “Celestial brush”, where the player can draw on the screen to damaged their enemies or to solve puzzles. However, even though Okami scored high reviews across the board, the sells for the game were poor. Capcom stated in an interview a couple of months ago that Okami would have to sell a certain amount units in order for them to make a sequel. Hopefully it sold well enough on the Wii for them to make a sequel to this incredible experience.

Capcom Mysterious title 2:

On a recent message on Capcom’s official twitter page, they announced that the second mysterious title is not Devil May Cry 5, so we can bury that rumor. Capcom however, announced that it’s well established action IP and not a remake. Here are two possibilities:

Strider is 1989 action side-scrolling game that was released in the arcades. Strider was also released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Genesis. Strider resurfaced in the 1998 fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. Will Capcom surprise gamers with a brand new Strider game for the next-generation consoles? Will it be in traditional 2D or all new 3D experience? Who knows.

Onimusha 5:

It’s been a while since fans experience an Onimusha game. Onimusha is Capcom’s 5th biggest franchise, so it’s high possibility that this can be Capcom’s mysterious title. Onimusha 4: Dawn of Dreams was the last in the series and left gamers wanted to more.

Final comments:

Capcom has some interesting titles coming out this year and hopefully these two mysterious titles add some more ammunition to their arsenal. Anyway, I would like to know what you gamers think what Capcom’s mysterious titles are?
