Contacting Soutpeak:
A couple of weeks ago, Killa-Indian and myself contacted Ed Blincoe from Southpeak, to see if he can shed a little light on their upcoming title Edge of Twilight. Unfortunately he told us very little, this is what he had say: “As of right now we’re not taking any questions on Edge of Twilight, we’re still the publisher for the game however we currently have no release date I’m afraid. As soon as anything changes I’ll let you know.”
We appreciate Mr. Blincoe responding to our inquiry, however that wasn’t the answer we were looking for. But hey, that’s not going to stop me from filling you guys in on what I know about the title so far.

What the hell is Edge of Twilight?
EoT is a third person action adventure game being publish by Southpeak (Section 8, Legendary) and developed by Fuzzyeyes. The game will supposedly be released later this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The story in EoT is about a steampunk fantasy world, that has been devastated by a Rift. For the readers who don’t know what steampunk is, please let me explain. Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that became real famous in the 1980s all the way up to the early 1990s. The term denotes an era or world where “steam power” is the main source of power usage. A perfect example of steampunk is the animated movie, Steamboy. The movie talks about two scientists, Lloyd Steam and his son Edward, who have succeeded after a lengthy expedition in discovering a pure mineral water which they believe can be harnessed as an ultimate power source in steam engines. When the experiment goes wrong, it results in Edward being engulfed in freezing gas and a strange ball-like apparatus is seen “born” from the destruction. That’s all I can tell, you’ve got to see the rest of the movie for yourself, trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
The chaos that has ensued since the Rift occurred, has cause the world to be spilt into separate realms of Day and Night. In the game the player will take on the role of Lex, a very unique bounty hunter that is caught in a battle between two civilizations, the Atherns and the Lithern. In this post-apocalyptic world the Lithern are prisoners after falling victim to the wrath of the Atherns. No living Lithern was known to have survived the genocide at the hands of the Atherns, except for Lex. Lex appears to be the only sole surviving half-breed in the world. As a result, Lex has a unique ability to travel between the Day and Night realms.

The Different Forms of Lex:
Day Lex: In the day, the brawny and scarred Lex lives a life of exile and subordination under the will of the Athern Empire.
Night Lex: In the dark realm, Lex transforms into more ruthless agile form where he can do some major damage to his foes.
It appears switching between forms will be one of the key elements in EoT. However, it’s unknown whether the player will be able to switch between the two forms on the go. But having two playable characters with two different attack maneuver sounds interesting enough for me to check it out.

The Citadel in Edge of Twilight:
While there will be many areas that Lex can travel too in EoT, the Citadel is central hub for the entire game and storyline. It serves as a safe haven completely protected from enemy’s attack. While Lex is the hub, he will able to interact with characters to progress the story, acquired knowledge, buy or upgrade weapons and trade rare items found throughout the world.
Final comments:
After seeing the latest trailer for EoT, I’m looking forward to this game. It looks very promising and seeing how I enjoyed the animated movie Steamboy. I have no doubts that the developing team at Fuzzyeyes will make a fine product once the game is released (hopefully) this year. Check out the latest trailer, courtesy of Gametrailers.com:
