What is Quantum?:

Quantum, (formerly known as Quantum Theory) is a third person action-shooter being published and developed by Tecmo. The game has been in development for two years now and is being built from the ground up as new IP exclusively for Sony’s PS3.

What are the features in Quantum?

  • Shape-Shifting Battlefield: The two characters will navigate through a dark fantasy world where the intense battleground surprises the player with new and challenging obstacles by changing its form in real-time.
  • Aesthetically Pleasing GamePlay Environment: Radiant colors and the mixture of organic elements complement both action and technology.
  • Two-Character Combination Actions: Syd and Filena will perform actions as pairs called, “tandem attacks”. In certain parts of the game, the “tandem attacks” is key into overcoming some difficult hurdles that Syn and Filena will face throughout the game. The “tandem attacks” plays another important role when the Syn and Filena are approach by a boss. Both characters most strategically perform combos, to produce a more powerful fierce attack to take down a colossal enemy.
  • Online Play: Players will be able to continue their adventure with their friends in team “Battle and Battle Royale modes”.

Why make Quantum exclusive for the PS3?:

Seeing how the Gears of War series is well established on the Xbox 360, it wouldn’t make sense to make a brand new IP that’s similar on same platform. I’m afraid GOW fans wouldn’t have accepted this title at all, however the producer Kohei Shibata’s decision was to make Quantum exclusive  to the PS3 because ”Simply, it’s the most powerful hardware“. It appears that this is a recurring statement amongst developers. Sony’s PS3 is definitely gaining some momentum with third party support.

Final comments:

Quantum is shaping out to be another AAA coming to the PS3 and seeing how it was only 40% done at this year’s E3, I can’t imagine how good it’s going to look when the final product is released next year.

The game is looking amazing. At certain points, if you look at it from a distance, it looks like MGS3. Game looks really pretty. Take a look at the pictures below

mgspw3

4 player co-op? Look at that fucking Metal Gear. That baby will probably be flying

mgspw2

God damn the game looks good. Wonder how they gonna fit all this on one UMD? Multiplayer might be on a seperate UMD!? Just better if this game is just a DL game since you won’t be limited to the UMD disc space (hopefully).

A Quick Review of Wolfenstein 3D

Posted by PAYBACK-IRONMAN | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Reviews, Sony | Monday 15 June 2009 1:44 pm

In 1992 id Software changed the first person shooter genre forever with the release on Wolfenstein 3D for the PC. For the time there was nothing like it on the market, it was a breakthrough for video games in general and you can see its influence in many of todays first person shooters. Now 17 years later its been ported to the Xbox live arcade and PSN for only $5, is this classic worth your money? Read below to find out.

In Wolfenstein 3D you play as allied spy BJ Blazkowicz, who must escape from the Nazi’s stronghold Castle Wolfenstein. The game will have you exploring hallways and in the process you’ll be blasting Nazi’s, finding health and ammo and searching for secrets doors with treasure in them. The gameplay still holds up pretty well but I can’t say that about the graphics and sound, the sound just seems cheap and the graphics show just how far we’ve come in 17 years. I’m sure that we all would have loved to see a brand new HD version remade for the current gen consoles, but I guess their saving that for the all new Wolfenstein set for release this summer.

wolf3d

A great new feature for Wolfenstein was the fact that the controls got a much needed make over. The game supports dual analoge controls and it makes the game much more accesable to the those that have never played the game before. Also for an old game it does have quite a bit of length to it. Theres a total of six chapters and each one has its fair share of difficulty and different secrets to discover.

So in the end if you’ve never played Wolfenstein before, you really should consider purchasing this classic’ because it really is the first game to truly usher in the first person shooter genre. Also for $5 its a steal and although its very dated it can still be very satisfying and fun to play.

Score: 7.5/10

Fight Night 4 Looks Great But Will The Sales Match The Graphics

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Monday 15 June 2009 12:18 pm

Fight Night Round 4 looks amazing but it’s more than just graphics that makes games successful. Knockout Kings was the original title gamers played growing up leading into the soon to be released Fight Night Round 4.

KNOCKOUT KINGS REFERENCE SCREENSHOT BELOW

Gameplay is everything and if the face button configuration don’t make it into the game then the developers choice of limiting that gameplay style will surely hurt sales. Multi-platform releases are great but it still doesn not guarantee a return on your money, now Fight Night Round 4 will be a successful historic game but without at least a add – on patch it will get bad press and, even though this game is a big franchise there’s so many other great games coming out surrounding the june 23rd release date of this title.

That one gameplay feature alone will possibly make gamers go else where with their 60 dollars.

EXAMPLE – Infamous, Prototype, UFC: Undisputed etc….

Rare To Be A Major Factor For Microsoft With Peter Molyneux

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Monday 15 June 2009 11:02 am

Many companies have helped propel Microsoft to be a direct competitor against Sony Playstation and, currently in this generation Microsoft is leading the way between the two. Bungie, Epic Games, and the infamous Peter Molyneux with the Fable franchise has seriously shown what the Xbox is capable of and, the type of exclusive success developers can have on this platform.

Rare is a company that is full of talent but that talent has not been realized as of yet, with Perfect Dark launching back in ’05 it was a good start but nothing ground breaking. Peter Molyneux is getting ready to bring new life into Rare and make them more significant for the Xbox360 platform.

“Actually one of the things I really want to do is help Rare have more of an identity,” said Molyneux “And make sure the people at Rare are seen more within the industry.”

“I was totally blown away from the amount of talent that there is at Rare, but it’s just that they come from a background where Nintendo required them to be this very, very secretive company,” offered Molyneux. “I just want to give them the confidence to tell the world what they’re doing. I hope you’re going to see more from Rare and I want to help them get well known,” he added.

Considering Peter’s position Rare should definitely be more of a player for Microsoft and Natal may have something to do with this new identity.

Need For Speed Drift: Driver Profile Details Check It Out

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Monday 15 June 2009 10:27 am

Driver profile is a tailor-made career mode based on four key game play components:

CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE THE NEW WILLY NORTHPOLE ALBUM IT’S FIRE

1. Personality – a player’s driving style determines whether they are an aggressive or precise driver.
2. Success – as in every race, the ultimate goal is to finish at the top of the podium.
3. Profile points – every car passed, every corner mastered, every opponent taken out generates profile points.
4. Badges – these unique icons bring individuality and style to each player’s driver profile, as each player races and completes top achievements.

As a player’s driver profile develops through the course of the game, it creates rivalries, triggers specific challenges and even unlocks vehicles and customization options. Need for Speed SHIFT’s multiple reward systems keeps players in each race regardless of their position.

“The new driver profile feature in Need for Speed SHIFT gives players full control of how they progress through game,” said Patrick Soderlund, Senior Vice President of EA Games Europe. “In SHIFT, how you drive is who you are behind the wheel.”

Need for Speed SHIFT is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios in collaboration with Black Box and Patrick Soderlund. Slightly Mad Studios includes developers and designers that worked on the critically acclaimed games GT Legends and GTR 2. The PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) version is being developed by EA’s Bright Light studio.
