God Of War 3 In-game graphics to rival CG render in the coming months
NEWS:
During the video game awards last year the first official in-game trailer of God Of War 3 was shown and surprisingly it received mixed reviews. Coming off that amazing E3′08 trailer everyone expected that level of quality and when the footage was shown there were many let downs but, don’t worry because there’s more too come. Killzone 2 was Sony’s true test to see if CG quality and in-game graphics could rival one another and the results were astounding and based off those results gamers wanted more out of God of War 3. In the coming months we may very well see for the second time around that the Cell Processor was really worth the investment.
God Of War 3 has been overhauled in a major way since the video game awards debut footage. Now the game looks extremely real and very polished but the most exciting thing about the screenshots below is the fact that more is being done to the overall game leading up to it’s march 2010 release. Most importantly the games graphics are still being worked on and currently it’s aiming to achieve 1080p 60fps.
On the line at E3 representatives of the game said that the graphics weren’t done and that the game still has alot more polish to go through. When asked if the game will rival the CG trailer from E3′08 they responded saying
” It will come close to it and you will not be disappointed, the game is still a ways off but we’re confident that gamers will love the final product come march 2010 so stay tuned for the coming months” (Sony Representative)
God Of War 3 is already gearing up to be a masterpiece and by the looks of it now, be prepared for another graphical and gameplay jump in time for this blockbuster release

Wow that is a Major difference. This game will seriously surpass any game on any console to its release and after. The pure power of the PlayStation 3 has been shown and it will only get better. But I wonder Why does the PS3 still get so much hate.
Nice comparison, only that the “After” shot is a touched-up image from the official website, not a direct screen from the game, which basically nullifies this comparison. Those aren’t ideal images to use anyway. This is a better comparison: http://playstationlifestyle.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/god-of-war-comparison-montage.jpg
Because my friend, people naturally don’t like good things
I think it’s more to do with the price and lack of install base in comparison to the 360. I mean the 360 is around 30+ million worldwide where as the PS3 is 24million. I also believe it has to do with developers and critics being overly impressed and spoiled over the huge success the PS2 was. Both PS2 and PS3 wasn’t exactly easy to use out of the gate. Both struggled in the first year(even though PS2 had a better launch titles debut), the second year got a little better and now midway through the third year and the PS3 is really getting some fantastic games. If we look at the PS3 and 360 individually based off it’s first three years, the PS3 has actually sold quite a bit more than 360. But I’m sure it’s the price and install base is why people are not overly excited with the PS3. But the problem is the blu-ray player within the system. That’s why it’s the price it’s at along with other hardware implementations. The price cut is a double edge sword. On one end a price cut can increase sales temporarily but since the PS3 is still selling at a $40 loss per console sold, it’ll raise the amount they lose. The other thing is, continuing with my last point, unless the price cut has a booming effect, continuously for months, they’ll never recoup enough money to get the system out of losing money per console sold.
The other edge to the sword is not having a price cut, the PS3 is still pricey, people will continue to complain about it(activisions bobby kotick threat as an example) and the never ending articles of price cuts will never cease. That’s not to say even when they do announce a price cut months later there won’t be another one saying “Lower it again”. But for Sony, they need to continue with the price, not giving in as time goes on production costs will be lowered, they’ll finally be able to gain money per console sold and then they can lower it.
Anyway to the article, it makes sense that the graphics will be polished and be where every god of war fan expects it to be. Director Stig Asmussen has stated before the premiere of the VGA trailer of God of War 2 that they were focusing primarily on gameplay first. He also mentioned along the lines “Everyone can make pretty graphics. But we want our gameplay to be focused more..etc” That video can be founded here:

So I can’t wait for the graphics to be good. I’m just hoping the ESRB don’t lash out at some of the gore in the game which the Zipper technology is responsible for.
you have a point there but i think the ps3 will have a huge increase in sales if there is a price cut take this for example http://www.gamerzink.com/news/$199-playstation-3,-new-sku-inbound.aspx
about the article:
i think god of war is going to improve in graphics but i dont think it will reach the cg image quality but will come close but still nice article
I should also mention that images A and B from the picture I linked to are in-game shots of God of War III. The bottom 2 images, C and D, are CGI cinemas from God of War II.
I really think that this blog can help people. Well done
