NEWS:

Onlive made a bit of a splash back at GDC earlier this year and after being a no-show at E3 David Perry reveals a beast of his own that poses a major threat to Onlive. Gaikai Gaming Service is a browser-based application similarly capable of streaming a wide variety of processor-pushing games to users with underpowered hardware. The only stated requirements for Gaikai is a broadband connection, a Web browser, and the latest Adobe Flash player.

THQ Wants WWE Smackdown All To Themselves

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Wednesday 1 July 2009 8:30 pm

NEWS:

WWE Smackdown has been around since the playstation 1 days and this franchise is major for THQ and Jakks Pacific. Unfortunately legal action has been taken place on the side of THQ because Jakks was not authorized to make a unilateral renewal for the games license, in which THQ has no obligation to commit under any circumstances.

The WWE license will come to an end this year and THQ is asking the court to deem a covenant restriction in the joint venture, which prevents THQ from publishing a wrestling game for one year after the WWE license expires, as unenforceable under California law.

This method of legal action will break the ties between THQ and Jakks Pacific and will also give the full rights to THQ in not just the publishing aspect but the development aspect, as well for the future of WWE Smackdown games.

Will THQ be able to have the WWE License to themselves instead of a joint venture? we shall see and if so they will fully own the copyright.
