DirectX11 is aiming to put PC gaming back in a major leadership position as far as overall game quality over the console rivals and Dirt 2 is leading the way. Although the game has been delayed on the PC it will be well worth the wait for hardcore PC gamers considering that this game is expected to exceed all levels in the racing genre, and when it comes to graphics not even the great Gran Turismo will be able to compete with the beefed up PC development of Dirt 2.

Here’s some quotes below representing what we can expect from the Devs over at Codemasters.

“We expect Codemasters’ early move to DirectX 11 to place them in a leadership position in developing the next generation of PC games and simulations,” said Rick Bergman, senior vice president, AMD Products Group. “To aid in transitioning to DirectX 11, AMD is providing Codemasters with access to our software engineering expertise in DirectX 11 technologies such as tessellation and shader modeling. DirectX 11 has all of the ingredients needed to take PC gaming to a new level of realism by giving developers tools to effectively utilize the multi-CPU, multi-GPU systems now available to players.”

“While the console editions of DiRT 2 will retain their September ship date, we believe that the DirectX 11 feature set is too compelling to ignore, especially considering how much more it can add to the visual experience for PC gamers,” said Bryan Marshall, chief technical officer, Codemasters. “As a leader in digital racing entertainment, we are staying ahead of the pack by immediately taking advantage of key new technologies such as hardware tessellation, multi-threading and Shader Model 5.0 to deliver the most realistic, immersive and exhilarating racing experiences in the business. The fusion of DirectX 11 with Codemasters’ EGO Engine will raise the technical bar considerably in the racing genre.”

Handhelds Are The Cause Of This 24% Japanese Game Sales Drop

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Nintendo, PC, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Monday 6 July 2009 3:25 pm

NEWS:

This generation has seen some amazing things and everything has literally become unpredictable. Here’s a few examples below

1. Sony In Last Place
2. Xbox Getting Final Fantasy amongst plenty of other RPG’s before Sony
3. Nintendo Coming from the bottom and rising to the top with motion

After seeing what’s been done so far this generation something very troubling is going on currently and that’s the turn around of the console market in Japan. Japan once was a major factor in a console generation since forever but now it’s at a all time low for hardware and software sales. Ironically the handheld market is healthier than ever and that actually explains the lack of growth in the Playstation , Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft.

1a – Microsoft was released first in 2005 and now it’s 2009 nearly 4 years later since launch and they are still under 5 million sold in japan which is horrible. The price is cheap the RPG’s are there and still no penetration into this region why?

1b – Sony the leaders in this industry can’t penetrate either in Japan. They are high priced, lack of RPG’s but everyone knows that final fantasy is coming to the platform which is the premier platform for this game, also final fantasy 14, along with versus 13 are all going to arrive on this system. Games like Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 5, which always had a major presence on the Sony console is now just considered another title so what has happened.

1c – Nintendo Wii is doing the best out of the bunch in this region but considering Mario is like the Michael Jackson of videogames when it comes to popularity along with the new motion system not even Nintendo has been performing at a rate that is expected from them.

THE QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE NOW

Brain Age

The answer is the hand held market. The Japanese market has clearly voted with their yen and PSP alongside the DS has shocked the industry. PSP and DS combined makes up more than 50 percent of the Japanese gaming market which is hurting the consoles badly. Games like brain age, and final fantasy dissdia , are taking over and if this trend continues how will the next generation of consoles handle this.

ff dissidiaa

Sony , Nintendo , and Microsoft have to think of a new strategy moving forward if not, we may see a major stripped down version of consoles hit the Japanese market in order to be more successful and appealing to that community.

Fight Night Remains #1 On The Charts Will EA Still Bring The Face buttons?

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Monday 6 July 2009 12:28 pm

NEWS:

EA Sports does it again with another hit title Fight Night Round 4. Now back in the development stages EA said that they were aiming for a level of realism that’s never been done before in the Fight Night Franchise, and yes they answered the call. The games graphical detail surpasses the tech demo shown back in ‘05 and the gameplay mechanics are so true to life and accurate.

Weight , Physics, Reach, Footwork, all these aspects that makes a boxer a boxer has been successfully implemented into this title, but through this process something has been taken out and that’s the Face button configuration style of gameplay.

This configuration is what gamers grew up on back when EA first released Knockout Kings but why is it that alot of developers instead of adding to the game, they take away certain things that should not be tampered with in the first place.

fightnight4pics1

Considering the fact that Fight Night is on top of the charts will EA still release the face button patch or is it now a lost cause, because of the Mike Tyson Vs Muhammed Ali Hype which really sold this game commercially in a big way.

At the moment the Face Button patch is still coming why? the face button patch is in high demand to the point where gamers are willing to pay for it as a DLC bonus. According to a source at EA the patch is coming along with a new mode and a updated roster so stay tuned for more on Fight Night 4 in the coming weeks.
