A Peek Inside Microsofts New Store Watch Out Apple

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, PC, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Saturday 25 July 2009 3:41 pm

The features below sounds great and it definitely has the quality to rival what’s seen in a Apple store.
Microsoft is hungry and this is some serious evidence to their claim of being the dominant brand in the living room. The opportunity of becoming the all in one go to company is becoming more and more streamlined day by day and Microsoft is aiming to be at the top of the food chain how? like this.

1. Consoles
2. Handheld (It’s Coming) Zune is already hear
3. Windows/OS
4. Netflix/Partnership For Television

The only thing Microsoft hasn’t tackled was the electronics business in terms of speakers, television sets and more but really they don’t need that to be dominant which is what they are trying to achieve.

There’s going to be a Digital Media Wall–a massive screen–that wraps around the entire store showing various messages, which you can see in some of the slides
• Personalization is something they’re stressing big time, with fancy areas devoted to customizing computers and gadgets using an “Xbox style” interface at various kiosks
• Here’s a sample store layout
• Lots of Surface demos
• Stage areas for Windows 7, Windows Media Center (PCTV) (it’s kinda surprising how much they’re pushing PCTV, actually), Windows Mobile and netbooks
• Their take on the Genius Bar is the Answers Bar (or Guru Bar or Windows Bar, depending on which slide you look at, showing it’s slightly up in the air, though we prefer Answers Bar since its sounds like slightly less like a Genius Bar ripoff)
• Apple Store-style table layouts
• Some of the stores they profiled for ideas are Nike, Nokia, Sony, Apple and AT&T
• They’re already planning out huge demos and events around Project Natal and their secret mobile project Pink
• A fancy Microsoft shopping bag
• You can pay to have your birthday party at the Microsoft Store

Essentially, Microsoft is taking the best elements from the Apple Store, Sony Style and other “flagship” stores. The main focuses are going to be Windows 7, Xbox, PCTV (Windows Media Center) Surface and Windows Mobile, revolving around this concept customer they call “Emily,” who’s basically a younger version of your mom, since they make all the buying decisions.

The Future Of Processors Is Here And Beyond 32nanometers

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, PC, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Saturday 25 July 2009 3:20 pm

IBM has reached the 28nm (nanometer) mark and Intel is at 32nm this is crazy what else can come after this?

This is huge news and can also be a hint to the next Cell Processor drop for the playstation 3 console or PS3 Slim. For a while now gamers, game developers, and game publishers has been screaming at Sony for a price drop, even though the cut has been cut already by $200 the combination of this economy and mass market appeal has worked against the Playstation 3. This achievement may very well be the answer that can get more Playstation 3 units into households. One downfall to this situation is that 2010 is the release of such a small nanometer size so I guess this is a hint and also a reason why Sony can’t drop the price as yet.

Small is good

Using a smaller nanometre process is a Very Good Thing. It means lower power consumption, higher potential frequencies and, of course, more transistors, all good stuff.

The best of AMD and Intel’s processors currently use a 45nm process and Intel announced its 32nm Westmere processors in February for delivery before the end of the year. AMD currently seems to be about a year behind Intel, which makes IBM’s announcement impressive stuff.

Semiconductors are created using photolithography, the design etched in light and chemically processed, simply rinse and repeat until you’ve built your chip up in layers. The trick to shrinking the design is getting an accurate beam onto your wafer and it is this process that has largely been the focus of the boffins, along with improved dielectric materials to stop electrons getting ideas of their own and wandering off track.

Intel’s Westmere employs immersion lithography on ‘critical’ layers. Combine these methods and you’ve turned your relatively clumsy beam into something much more accurate without any major changes in technology and, more importantly, completely rebuilding ridiculously expensive fabs.

The limits of photolithography have been announced as nearly reached many times, beyond one micron was once thought impossible, and yet each time the white-coated ones manage to squeeze higher resolutions out of it.

This is going to be huge and groundbreaking

DC Universe RoundTable Panel Discussion

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Saturday 25 July 2009 3:00 pm

In this Roundtable discussion tons of info has been confirmed and revealed for all you fans out there. Stay tuned for more updates on DC Universe for the Playstation 3.

* Lee admitted that drawing the back of buildings was tough — it’s something he’s never had to do in a 2D comic. Plus, costumes to him are just “shiny blue or shiny black.” Lee’s never had to think about what costumes were made of before this game — stuff like leather. “Wouldn’t that be heavy or smelly?” Lee asked.

* The team is hard at work on Gotham City, and it should be revealed soon.

* Giant pennies, Egg-Fu, and Ambush Bug are all confirmed.

* You’ll be collecting costume pieces as you play. Again, you knew that from my E3 preview, but I’m reiterating it. You’ll be able to have different suits for different scenarios.

* Hey, movie fans! A kid got up there and asked one of those loaded questions about Johns working on The Flash movie but not being able to say if he was or not. Johns just interrupted him and said “I am.”

* Gotham City and Metropolis are the two main cities in the game. That’s the world, although there will be “exotic” locations and expansions that take you other places..

* You can create young-looking characters for sidekicks or teen heroes.

* Booster Gold billboard pimping “Booster Flakes” confirmed.

* There’s a Technology of the Green Lantern Corps. on display at a museum in Metropolis.

* The game’s still pre-alpha. It’s close to alpha.

* The release date is still “completely open.”

* Blackout is in the game.

New “Infinities” Storyline Takes Star Wars® Saga in Unimagined New Directions

LONDON, UK– 24th July, 2009 – LucasArts today announced that their hit videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will see further expansion this Fall through a new downloadable level for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system. In addition, the company also announced Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition, a special new version of the game for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, that will show gamers the deepest, darkest side of the Force in a story that puts them on a collision course with Luke Skywalker himself. Available this holiday season at retail stores, The Ultimate Sith Edition will include all of the original missions found in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as well as content previously only available via download and an all-new exclusive bonus level*.

The mission begins at the end of the story of The Force Unleashed and re-imagines the Star Wars Saga as if the Secret Apprentice had killed Darth Vader and taken his place at the Emperor’s side, becoming the most powerful Sith Lord in the universe. The story picks up as the Emperor sends his new apprentice to the planet Tatooine to dispatch Obi-Wan Kenobi – who has been hiding on the planet ever since the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. During their hunt for the reclusive Jedi, players will also explore the depths of Jabba the Hutt’s palace and encounter notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Due to be released in retail stores this holiday season for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3, Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition combines the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed videogame and three new levels to create the definitive ultimate-evil storyline of the events that occurred between the two classic Star Wars movie trilogies*.

The additional content includes two levels set on Coruscant and Tatooine previously only available via direct download, and an all-new exclusive level available only in the Ultimate Sith Edition package.

The exclusive level concludes the “Infinities” storyline set up in the Tatooine mission, as the Secret Apprentice is sent to the planet Hoth on a crusade to crush the Rebellion once and for all. While on Hoth, players face Luke Skywalker himself while visiting iconic locations seen in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
