Another title bites the dust, Capcom’s Dark Void will now ship in fiscal fourth-quarter 2009, which begins January 1, 2010, to “avoid competition with releases of major titles of other companies.” I don’t know exactly what competition Capcom is referring too, seeing how every major title that was coming out this fall and holiday season was pushed back.

According to IGN, Senior Director Chris Kramer informed them that the reason for the delay will the company “enhance” the game. Kramer also stated, ”Dark Void is moving into Capcom’s fiscal Q4 in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season and to allow the development team more time to polish and enhance the game experience.”

Dark Void was definitely one of the highlights at this year’s past E3. The games make use of a new “vertical cover system”, as well as a standard cover system. The game will include a hover pack, and later, a jetpack, allowing for a quick transition between traditional shooter gameplay and flight.

Slow-Mo Deathmatch: Through a free title update, gamers

Vick ‘close’ to finding new team

Posted by hiphopgamer | Features, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 30 July 2009 12:39 pm

Michael Vick said Thursday that he is getting close to signing with a professional football team but refused to elaborate.

Vick made the comment to reporters as he left a courtroom after a hearing in his bankruptcy case. Asked about his progress in signing with a team, Vick said: “We’re getting close.” He declined to answer additional questions.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick on Monday, a week after the former Atlanta Falcons star completed his 23-month sentence for running a dogfighting ring. Vick is free to sign with a team and could be playing in the NFL by Week 6.

He could also play in one of a couple football minor leagues if no NFL team signs him. His agent, Joel Segal, did not immediately return a telephone message.

Vick, 29, did not speak during the hearing. Afterward, the U.S. bankruptcy trustee and a lawyer for Vick’s creditors shook Vick’s hand and congratulated him on his NFL reinstatement. Vick thanked them and said, “It’s exactly what I needed at this point in my life.”

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro postponed until Friday a decision on whether to approve $1.5 million in legal fees sought by Crowell & Moring, the Madison Avenue law firm representing Vick in the Chapter 11 case. Santoro was astonished that the firm is billing Vick for 8,000 hours of work over about 10 months.

“I don’t understand how that happens,” said Santoro.

Avatar 3D Impressions “Incredible”

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 30 July 2009 12:01 pm

Avatar 3D is something that needs to be seen seriously jaw-dropping. The graphics looks like a cinema and it looks as if the characters can just walk out of the television screen literally. During the demonstration someone put they hand in front of the screen and for a quick second it looked as if the hand grabbed the in-game character that’s how deep the detail goes in this game.

The action in the game is incredible as well because the environment is so open and full of life that when the enemies come on screen it’s more than just playing a game you actually feel like your there at the place your self. Monsters huge in size in 3D on screen will have you speechless , from the colors to the movement, and the progression of the game overtime will have you wanting more.

The character you play as will always change for combat meaning that your player decides what goes on and how he needs to prepare for battle not you, so yes you control the game but the game has a mind of it’s own as well it’s unlike anything ever seen before.

The downside to this is that you have to have a 3D tv to play this game the way it was demoed but wow if you can afford it buy it you will not be disappointed.

Sony On The Edge Yes or No?

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Thursday 30 July 2009 11:35 am

Sony announced their Q1 2009 results and it’s not pretty considering the 50 percent year over year drop. According to Sony alot of it has to do with the lack of PSP sales overall but is this a sign of good things to come for the PSP GO. PSP Go is what alot of people are now waiting for since E3 and maybe the decline in sales with the slim shows that consumers are ready for a change, the PSP Go model may be the next big success for the Playstation brand.

Sony has had a rough road full of ups and downs with Activision putting pressure on them, THQ wanting another price cut as well, systems not selling as good as they could but good enough currently at their price point but this can’t last for too much longer.

Changes need to be made and whether it’s a price cut, or a new business model that will generate more revenue and put Sony back in the green consistently, only time will tell which strategy will make this possible. The slim PS3 and the PSP Go, going forward maybe the difference makers here which can help generate significant profits for Sony’s business because a cheaper Playstation 3 along side a all digital handheld gaming platform may do the trick.

The gaming business of Sony dropped off mainly due to PSP related sales, with 1.3 million hardware units sold this quarter compared to 3.7 million same period last year and software down over half to 8.3 from 22.8 million. PS3 sales were down roughly a third all-around, with hardware seeing 1.1 million in sales compared to 1.6 million last year, and software at 14.8 million unit sales compared to 22.8 million units in first quarter 2008. Despite roughly a decade on the market, PS2 hard sales continue to perk right along, posting 1.6 million hardware unit sales, though software was down to 8.5 million from 19.3 million same period last year.
