The truth in game development is by far one of the best gaming shows on the internet. I’m really looking forward to the next episode. BlackSmith keep doing your thing.

what about Autocad? That is what I use for work everyday. I guess the question I want to ask is; Can I apply my Autocad skills in the video game industry?

I think any skill that is helpful for building the environments will help you in the industry. I use math in many things I do everyday, even when animating. You probably will not be using Autocad (though that is a Studio’s choice to use the programs that work for them). If you can get your hands on 3DMax or Maya and test/figure out those programs then you would be in the “norm” of what the industry uses.

    Hope that helps

Auto cad has similarity’s with 3ds max doesn’t it, When I was taking with Chad Dezern from insomniac he said something interesting. He mentioned that it really doesn’t matter which program you learn as long as you have refined skills that show in your work. It should be easy to transition to 3dsmax. Although maya is at the top of the list of art programed used in the game industry.
