More Def Jam Rapstar Info

Def Jam Rapstar is a game that’s looking to change how people think about the casual singing game. Developed by Terminal Reality, it will be the first singing game that is focused purely on hip-hop music and it’s something that 4mm Games really think will capture a new audience.

Featuring tracks from Hip Hop’s 35 years of history, there will be around 40 tracks when the game ships. They will be radio edits, and there will also be no lyrical adjustments. There will also be region specific content, such as Dizzee Rascal in the version that’s released in the United Kingdom.

4mm Games are under no illusion about who their target audience are, and they’re hoping that this game will have much more appeal to the guys than the girls. That’s not to say that there isn’t content for female audiences, but it’s going to be tailored for a male audience. To try and increase camaraderie the game is going to support co-op play, where players will take part to sing/rap to different parts of the song and also perform duets. Players will then be judged on three criteria upon completing a song: word recognition, beat recognition and pitch recognition. Not everyone can sing with perfect pitch, and adding these two extra scoring avenues makes the game much more accessible and rewarding.

If a camera is attached to the game it would have been recording the performance. Upon completing of the song, the player can then choose their favourite 30 seconds from the recorded performance, which can then be slightly customised with different elements. More customisation options will be unlocked by playing through the career mode, but there is a good selection available from the get-go.

Aside from creating its own niche within an existing genre, Def Jam Rapstar is looking to really promote the community experience. They have registered the website defjamrapstar.com and this will be the hub for the community. Upon finishing a performance, the video will be uploaded to the website and the rest of the Def Jam Rapstar community will be able to rate the performance. This will be a great way to get feedback, as well as promotion. There will be some original beats featured in the game, and if performances are of a high calibre, there’s a chance that it could really lead somewhere.

However, Def Jam Rapstar’s community isn’t just open to those with a big talent for rapping. It’s also possible to contribute as a promoter, manager or video editor. It’s these extra dimensions that really make Def Jam Rapstar more than just a game, and it’s already been called the American Idol of the Hip Hop world. It will also be possible to make crews, which can then battle each other across the internet

The game is scheduled for a Winter release, and it will appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. There will be full support for all existing peripherals as well as an extended range of products. Downloadable content will be available instantly at launch, and there will be new tracks added every single week.

PS3 Motion Is Now In Motion For Launch

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Tuesday 25 August 2009 10:51 am

Yoshida: “We are approaching the launch by making sure that all games that we create can be played with one controller and the camera,” he revealed.

This is great news considering the demonstration that was show off at this past E3′09. Playing with two motion controllers may be fun but it all depends on the game and some games are being built for the use of only one motion controller.

Yoshida: “We will also introduce options for if you happen to have more than one controller available. Experiences will be enhanced if you purchase a second. We are trying to make the entry barrier as low as possible, but I’m looking forward to introducing more advanced things you can do with having two in your hands.”

Sony’s motion controller is by far the most realistic and accurate peace of hardware this industry has witnessed but the games will be what makes this system successful and come this Tokyo Game Show games will be shown.

One title that’s UP IN THE AIR at the moment is a shooter designed as a mini-game. This should be interesting because depending on what your shooting you will have too change what gun is in your hand on the fly, according to sources behind the scenes it’s really amazing too see. Imagine being at shooting range with obstacles in – terms of running, shooting, duck, covering, bullseye bonuses and more. This game although Rumored seems to be official and some more info should be unveiled during the Tokyo Game Show so everyone stay tuned.

The support of the Magic Wand will not be the same as when eyetoy was released. Sony is backing this product full force and the game line -up will not only prove that but the steady support from various developers and indie developers shows promise.

Heavy Rain Script Over 2,000 Pages and interview with David Cage (writer/director)

Heavy Rain 2000 pages

Now this is bananas. For all you guys who do not know what Heavy Rain is, then this little article I had read from a site will blow your mind out.

Heavy Rain doesn’t follow either, instead they went with 2,000 pages. Yes you read that right, two thousand pages for a script alone. David Cage explains that the script is so big, due to difficulties scripting all the possible decisions, different storylines, and trying to branch out every part of the game without going too far.

Here is the site that I had came across.

All I can say is ………WORK TIME FUN people. I was not really into playing this game until I came across this little quote. My boy, the HipHopGamer, had put his backing, his word, and will vouch that this is a game that every PS3 owner, I meant; GAMER needs to play. It finally hit me, and I have to throw my shout out to him, because of that.

David Cage is gone loco because he has made a video game script with over 2000 page. People, that is mind blowing. Who can make a script that big, and it not even a television series. This is a video game. I know that most movie scripts are under 150 pages, but 2000 pages. That is crazy, that is uncanny, that is incredible. Heavy Rain have so much replay value because of that or the game is going to be over 30+ hours. I have seen trailers of this game but those trailers really do not give the game justice. I think the gameplay trailers should be like this:

Show us a way of the game, then rewind and show us the different opinions of playing the game. I really think that would help the world understand the game more. Here is a video of the writer and director of Heavy Rain, David Cage.

Here is a video of David Cage playing a new level with commentary walkthru for you gamers.

The EA SPORTS NHL franchise begins a new era with gameplay innovations that deliver a new standard of toughness and the emotion of playoff hockey on the ice and in the arena, with the launch today of its NHL 10 demo exclusively on Xbox Live Marketplace for Gold subscribers.

NHL 10, the franchise that has won 19 sports game of the year awards over the past two years, will showcase two new game modes in the demo that launches today: Battle for the Cup and Be A Tough Guy. Experience the emotion and drama of the third period of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup™ Championship between Detroit and Pittsburgh in Battle for the Cup. The new mode features playable injuries, the ability to intimidate the opposing team, and line-matching to shut down superstars all in front of frenzied towel waving crowds with storylines that carry across the entire series. Play as your favourite team’s enforcer in Be A Tough Guy, where it is your job to protect your superstars, fight when needed, and finish all checks. The enhanced Be a Pro mode also includes a prospects game before heading to the draft and watching your name appear on the NHL draft board.

Beginning today the NHL 10 demo on Xbox 360 will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace to XBOX LIVE Gold members. On August 27th it will be available to download for XBOX LIVE Silver members and for the PLAYSTATION3 at the PLAYSTATION Store.

NHL 10 features a new first-person fighting engine that enables players to trade punches with an NHL tough guy. Feel what it’s like to be on the ice in the skates of an NHL player to throw and dodge punches. Plus, winning one-on-one battles for possession of the puck along the boards becomes a test of will and skill utilizing an all-new board physics engine. Players can use their body to shield the puck on the boards and then kick-pass it to teammates. Bigger, stronger players pin opponents to the boards while fanatical fans bang on the glass, just like real life. Master the techniques of both these game-changing features with tutorials, available on the demo.

NHL 10 features more than 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse of hockey and deliver the most responsive and authentic action ever for the series. Players can one-time loose pucks, score from their knees, knock pucks out of the air and lift a leg to fake a shot on goal. A new 360° precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it.
