The timed exclusivity on MGS:Rising isn’t going to happen my friend. It doesn’t matter if a new team is making it. The only reason Kojimas letting the new team work on it is because its a new story set in the future and theres no need for a complete knowledge of the Metal Gear world. Although Kojimas not heavily involved with rising, hes still over looks the project which he said about a million times already.
Kojimas never gonna take the money off Microsoft for a timed exclusivity. He has far more to loose than what they pay. Do you know how mad MGS fans really are. They are hardcore. Theres loads of them and Everyone of them bought a PS3 for MGS4. If kojima announced timed exclusivity it would outrage thousands of people and changing there opinions of Kojima resulting in lose of fans. The only reason why Kojima brought MGS to Xbox is because of Konami. If Konami tryed to get kojima to take the money they’d be met with a no just like the one he gave konami when they tryed to get MGS4 released on Xbox 360.
On another note. Another reason why PS3 will dominate this holiday season is cas what you get for that 300 bucks. PS3 comes with wifi, Blu ray player, 120 GB HDD and free PSN.Elite comes with a 120 GB HDD. It has No blu ray player, its 100 bucks for the wifi add on and 50 bucks a year for online play.
The arcade is 200 dollars but you still need to buy a hard drive and 120GB HDD cost 120 bucks for the Xbox harddrive so unless your gonna use the xbox for fuck all of the time then the arcade isn’t the cheapest
I actually agree with some of the comments about MGS: R possibly being a timed exclusive as not making that big of a difference, I know I’ll probably wait for the PS3 version (but that is my OCD, because I want all my MGS games on the same console). If you tell me that any particular game is better because of exclusive dlc, that may be true, but not for me (as I rarely pick up extra dlc, so as far as I’m concerned I get the exact same experience regardless of platform, unless one platform’s version is gimped).
About the PS3 / Xbox 360 situation, yeah I’m happy to see Sony turn it around, and hopefully they blow up big (obviously cause they are my #1 choice, and I love to see them as well as their supporters get a fair shake regarding games, etc. come their way, because the devs will go where the money is, period). As for Microsoft they can keep doin’ their thing as well, some things they got, I’m looking forward to, and others not so much (as far as games are concerned anyway, because the hardware is another story). Microsoft obviously has the support of the devs (3rd party), and I’d like to see Sony get that support as well.
At least the one positive that results from this console war is that these companies are really working hard to outdo each other, and for the most part, that is benefitting the consumers (this generation is full of innovation, as well as sequels, and revivals and in some cases reinvention of some of gaming’s past glories). I just think the media (and bloggers) are really getting silly with it, it’s not exciting or interesting, I’d rather watch/read/hear about something that I don’t know (you know, the stuff that YOU in the press are privy to, the insider stuff).

i would have to disagree with both of you saying that having a time exclusive wouldn’t benifit microsoft. just look at gta IV as an example.. i believe that game outsold 2:1 in microsofts favour and surely the exclusive extra content played a big part on that.

Actually I really don’t even see how that could help MS at all. It would end up being yet another gimick 50mill for DLC kinda thing that cost MS more than needed.
I mean, this isn’t Snake’s MGS, this is Raiden. It’s a new IP with completely different gameplay and something that’s well known that Kojima San – or his main team – isn’t heavily involved in. NO ONE has seen ANYTHING of the gameplay or art style or features. It’s a total unknown and I sincerely doubt people would buy an unknown title for the 360 simply cause it’s coming out 6 months before the PS3 version.
Not even a timed exclusive for MGS5 would help MS with this franchise cause people who know MGS, know it for the PS3 and I doubt you’ll find many who can’t wait 6months for it’s release on the PS3 but something like MGR? nah, if MS gives up a tonne of potential revenue just for this then they haven’t learnt their lesson from GTA$ DLC for sure.

I’m not sure if YOU were the first person to actually go out on a limb and say that the PS3 Slim was real though, because I thought that Sev from Playstation Lifestyle was the first…. however, I will give you a little credit because you came out shortly afterward and said you thought the PS3 Slim was real as well, and not everyone would have had the courage to do that.
As far as MGS: Rising Timed Exclusivity, it’s possible, but I don’t see it benefiting Microsoft or the 360, because people that wanted Metal Gear Solid games already has a PS3 and has played MGS4. For most die-hard Xbox fans, MGS: Rising will probably be one of the first MGS games they’ve ever played, but regardless of 360 Timed Exclusivity, I think that it’s gonna be bigger on the PS3, mainly because of MGS4’s Exclusivity with the PS3 and the fact that if you don’t play MGS4 (and MGS2) you probably won’t care that much about Raiden, and since MGS4 ISN’T on the 360, I don’t really see MGS: Rising connecting with a lot of 360 only owners.
As a Metal Gear Solid fan, I’m looking forward to MGS: Peace Walker more because: Kojima is a lot more involved in Peace Walker, and it’s a sequel to MGS3, my favorite in the franchise (MGS4 is my second favorite), however, I’m still buying MGS: Rising for PS3 because I’ve always been intrigued by Raiden as a character in the MGS universe, even though he was never really that popular with fans.
And I agree, I think that the PS3 will sell more than the 360 this holiday season…. as a matter of fact, I think the PS3 will outsell the 360 from September all the way up to the Holiday Season. When looking at monthly sales, the $199 Xbox 360 SKU is doing little to nothing at all for Microsoft because people that want a 360 want a hard drive, and at a higher price point, the PS3 has already proved it can sell more. With Final Fantasy XIII hitting Japan, and both the Elite and PS3 being the same price, I think the PS3 will end up selling more… Microsoft should be praying that GT5 doesn’t come out this year, because if so, it pretty much confirms that Sony has the Holiday Season in Europe on lock.

Hey HHG, good show!! As for your comment on the ps3 winning this holiday season, I believe it is possible because of the price drop having so much power right now. If at TGS, Sony announces GT5 release date, I think it will cause a bigger rumble and more sales of the ps3.
Now for the MG exclusive deal with MS, I think Konami would be making a mistake, and could be chasing away a lot of ps3 only owners. Sony fans have been very loyal towards the MG series and to delay the next release would be crazy.
