Sony ” The Comeback Kid” Playstation 3 Dominates But There’s Still A Missing Link

Yes this was a great day for Sony with their Gamescom announcements but don’t get too excited as of yet because there is still a missing link from their repritoire and that’s ONLINE FEATURES. Playstation 3 has dealt with enough criticism, media bashing, and bad ports so on this day they finally tell everyone in the game industry that they are still the champions with goals to lead the market with all their platforms. The next step for Sony will be too unlock the true power of Home and the PSN network and at that very moment Sony will have officially surpassed the competition in every way.
Xboxlive the real reason why the world in gaming has flocked too Microsoft. Xbox Live is still is the #1 service to game on when it comes to online features and this poses a problem for Sony regardless of a price drop. The playstation network 3.0 update is really really good but in this war you have too be great, Playstation Home is on it’s way too true greatness and the more and more spaces that come and the ease of use the system provides will put Home and the PSN network in the frontlines of the game industry.
Sony made the right moves today but the better move is coming Janurary 1st 2010 why? because Sony will start the year off at $299 and the quote in tons of articles that we’ve seen ” Year Of The PS3″ will be a serious reality for the Playstation 3 Console. Now how can Microsoft respond to this news: (A Price Cut) wrong, Sony has already sky rocketed to the top of the charts on Amazon.com with this announcement and this is only the beginning. The tables have turned and believe it or not the pressure is now back on Microsoft so, will project natal keep Microsoft from losing the sales gap they created? can halo ODST or halo reach save the day wrong again? the problem with this situation is that Microsoft has 2 legs to stand on and that’s xbox live and 3rd party developer support.
Sony has taken a major advantage away from Microsoft with the price drop and once the PSN network can match live feature for feature for free then all Sony has to do is make sure they continue pumping out tools and working with 3rd parties in-terms of the development environment and, Sony will cruise through this generation and possibly end up on top of the 360.
Developers will be the deciding factor on who really wins between Sony and Microsoft why? because Microsoft got stronger support but the reason was cause of install base, xbox live, ease of development, and better return on investment and those advantages still exist but how can things turn around in Sony’s favor.
Marketing from Sony has been incredible lately and too see a Madden 10 commercial exclusively representing the Playstation 3 just goes too show that they are were they want too be, they are hitting there stride, and with this ultimate game line up, price point, marketing, and pspGO, Sony is no joke and a serious force to be wreckoned with at this stage of the console war.

I was in gamestop yesterday buying a few games and someone brought there 360 elite in to trade it for a PS3 (I literally pissed myself laughing). I started talking to the women behind the counter and she said the phone was ringing all morning from people either asking if the PS3s price had dropped in there store yet or how much they’d get if they traded in there 360. She also said they have taken over a thousand pre orders for uncharted 2 which is very big considering COD MW2 only has 600 and the stores average for people pre ordering is on average 200.
well the tables have turned now for Microsoft after hearing there weak conference at gamescom they are under pressure if they don’t do nothing then sony will surpass them halo cant help them now because everyone who wants halo odst has a 360 already and with that strong lineup that the ps3 has well Microsoft if i were you i’ll think of something fast

Good article man, but you did say Xbox was going to win this generation. Your not having second thoughts because the PS3 drop the price? I think the main advantage of the price cut is that the PS3 is finally competitive, which is great for gamers. It opens more doors for developers who wanted to develop games on the system, but was afraid too, because they fear the game will not reach enough people out there on the market. But hopefully that will change now, because the price is not an issue anymore. I’m more interested in how Xbox is going to counter this (if they can), but I don’t think Xbox owners should worry that much, the 360 is still ahead of the PS3. Competition is between these companies are great for us, it makes Sony and Microsoft make even bigger and better games, so it was great news for all of us.

In some interview, someone working for Sony said there wouldn’t be any backwards compatible for PS2, so people shouldn’t count on it.
What did I say the other day when you said Microsoft has this generation won. Didn’t I tell you your mind will change in time and you’ll make a vid or article saying Sony’s victory. Is this really such a shock to everyone that a slim PS3 and price cut will get everyone buying the consol. I mean come on, who hear hasn’t had friends that said they’re waiting on a price drop before they get a PS3. I know about 10 people waiting on this price drop and yes they do own an Xbox 360. Sony know what they are doing. Since the days of the 2 people who founded sony, Sony has been bringing out slimmer models and every single one of them have been a success. Everyone loves small
