Courtesy of Sony Insider, Allen Tyson stated that when he was at Gamescom 2009 he had some hands on time with DC Universe and Wes Yanagi the Senior Producer of Sony Online Entertainment revealed that DC Universe will not have a subscription fee to play.  On top of that Allen also stated in his article that the game plays very well and that he liked, that the game is more action based compared to other MMOs on the market.

At first I’m sure that many gamers where going to pass on DC Universe simply due to the subscription fee, but now that the subscription fee has been waived off I’m sure that this will attract lots people to purchase the game. This is also a great move on Sony’s part because this is a great oppurtunity for them to become a true threat in the MMO market and the fact that it has the DC license is already a major selling point.

Zattikka acquires gaming portal Gimme5games

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 10 September 2009 3:27 pm

Social gaming company Zattikka has acquired the browser gaming portal and iPhone publisher Gimme5games and, in the process, its team of mobile and Flash game creators.

The acquisition of the company’s development talent was a key motivating factor in the decision, it said today, with Matt Spall, Ian Willey and Ronny Batty all joining Zattikka on a full time basis.

“This is a fantastic first acquisition for us,” said Zattikka founder and CEO, Tim Chaney. “In Gimme5games we have a talented team and a superb collection of games. These guys are experts in the browser gaming and download space, having racked up over 140,000,000 plays globally.”

“We’re really pleased to find such an exciting new home for Gimme5games, and with the combined industry heritage of Tim Chaney and Mark Opzoomer at the helm, we see Zattikka doing great things with this, and all its planned exploits,” added Matt Spall, head of product development at Gimme5games.

Zattikka was set up earlier this year by Tim Chaney and ex Yahoo Europe CEO Mark Opzoomer. The company’s focus is on building a network of both broad and niche flash gaming sites, and also a portfolio of iPhone, Blackberry and Android games.

Apple Says PSP/DS Isn’t Much Fun ” Now That’s BullSh*t “

Posted by hiphopgamer | Microsoft, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Thursday 10 September 2009 12:56 pm

Apple showed off its latest versions of the iPod during the iPod Show in San Francisco this week. Along with new designs, the electronics maker also announced a price drop for the various versions of the iPod Touch.

More than that, Cnet’s live blog indicates that senior vice president of worldwide product marketing Philip W. Schiller said that the iPod Touch is a superior platform for gaming. “He points to $30 game titles on those devices and the buying experience as ‘too expensive’ and ‘not a lot of fun,’” reads the live blog. “He says there are 21,178 ‘game and entertainment’ titles on iPhone OS, compared to 3,600 on Nintendo, and 600 on Sony.”

Apple CEO Steve Jobs also indicated to the New York Times that he views the iPod Touch as a game machine first and foremost. “Originally, we weren’t exactly sure how to market the Touch. Was it an iPhone without the phone? Was it a pocket computer? What happened was, what customers told us was, they started to see it as a game machine,” said Jobs. “We started to market it that way, and it just took off. And now what we really see is it’s the lowest-cost way to the App Store, and that’s the big draw. So what we were focused on is just reducing the price to $199. We don’t need to add new stuff. We need to get the price down where everyone can afford it.”

Nier is an Xbox 360 exclusive?

Posted by DaSolidProof | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Thursday 10 September 2009 11:10 am

134266-nier

The PS3 owners are not going take this one lightly at all. It appears Square-Enix’s multi-platform title Nier (now known as Nier Gestalt) may be coming to the Xbox 360 only. According to Kotaku, Nier Gestalt is “being loosely reported in the Japanese media, with a fresh batch of screens for the game only mentioning the Xbox 360, with the PS3 nowhere to be seen.”

Now, this maybe similar to what Microsoft did with Lost Planet 2 trailer or something entirely different. Kotaku also repoted that in the latest issue of Famitsu, another title Nier Replicant, maybe an PS3 exclusive. One game for each platform doesn’t sound like a bad deal, the only problem with that is there’s no other information other than the ad.

To calm down the PS3 owners that hate Square-Enix’s business tactics, Square-Enix told Kotaku that the Famitsu advertisments “do not affect the North American version”. So that means it’s exclusive to the 360 in Japan….right? What do you guys think?
