Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is the revamped PS3 version of the original Ninja Gaiden 2; that was released on the Xbox 360 just over a year ago. In Sigma 2 players will play the same story that was seen in Ninja Gaiden 2 but now new additions like weapons, characters and bosses will definitely make Sigma 2 feel like a fresh new experience and its truly one of best games to hit the PS3 this year.
In Sigma 2, you’ll be playing as the familiar character Ryu Hayabusa and just like in all the Ninja Gaiden games you’ll be dismembering and slashing through tons of enemies. The story in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is definitely not its strongest point, it starts with Ryu saving a CIA agent named Sonia from a rival ninja clan and Ryu learns from her that the four evil arch fiends are being resurrected to take over the world. So as you guessed its up to Ryu to send the fiends back to the underworld and ultimately save the world. The story itself isn’t told very well and although the game’s cut scenes do look very nice, they really just make the story all the more forgettable.

The Ninja Gaiden series has always been known for its difficulty and action; Sigma 2 is no exception. Sigma 2 features the same hack and slash gameplay we all know and love and players will truly need to master the games controls in order to survive. When speaking of the controls in Sigma 2, there very responsive and the combos aren’t difficult to do but you really need time your attacks right because the enemies in Sigma 2 will show you no mercy. Although the original Ninja Gaiden Sigma is much more difficult, you’ll still find that Sigma 2 will offer some very challenging but rewarding gameplay. My only problem is that Tecmo still didn’t fix the camera issues that plagued the original Ninja Gaiden 2, the camera may cause some frustration but rest assured the camera will not be too much of a problem and it surely won’t hurt your experience when playing.
Of course it wouldn’t be Ninja Gaiden without all the awesome weapons. Sigma 2 features some new and familiar weapons like the Dragon Sword, Lunar Staff and the never before seen Enma’s Fang which is a massive sword, that is slow but deals massive damage to any one you swing at. All of the different weapons are a lot of fun to use and they all have their specific advantages and weaknesses when your fighting enemies. One of the changes that Tecmo made to Sigma 2 was that in every chapter you’re limited to upgrading one of you’re weapons per level at the blacksmith as opposed to being able to do so anytime in the original Ninja Gaiden 2; so make sure you choose you’re upgrades wisely.

One of the notable changes to Sigma 2 was the fact that the gore that was so heavy in Ninja Gaiden 2 has been minimized. So now when dismembering your enemies you won’t see blood spray out of them like you did before, why Tecmo did this I don’t know? Other notable changes include the ability for you’re health to get a slight recharge after fighting a wave of enemies and when your reach a save statue you’re health will fully replenish. Also like I stated before, your limited to only one weapon upgrade per level so there’s a much greater emphasis on buying health and resurrection items from the in game shop.
Tecmo even went the extra mile by offering more playable characters that are exclusive to Sigma 2. Now during the main story you’ll play three brand new chapters and you’ll play as the female characters Rachel, Ayane and Momiji. Each character has their own unique weapons and moves that add more variety to the gameplay and for once, its great to play as a different character other then Ryu in a Ninja Gaiden game. As if more playable characters wasn’t enough, the inclusion of more boss battles are sure to add more challenge to the game and they add more hours to an already long game.

When you’re not playing through the story, Sigma 2 offers a brand new online Team Mission mode where you can team up with a friend online to complete various missions. There’s a total of 30 mission all together and the coop is for the most part very fun and as you progress, the missions will get very tough.
In closing if you’re looking for an awesome action game, then Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is one game you should consider. With its great new features like online coop, new playable characters and a lengthy single player this is one adventure that will keep you playing for a long time and although its got a few issues its something that every PS3 owner should consider checking out.

Nintendo Wii has had incredible success with their motion controller gimmick but now new challenges are here and Nintendo is in for a fight. Microsofts Project Natal and Sonys Magic Wand are ready to expand the motion control market and also take some market share away from Nintendo but, Sony seems to be in the best position to do this and here’s why.
Sony has already showed that they can outsell even the Nintendo Wii being $100 dollars higher in price and next year with the addition of the Magic Wand Sony has now become more than just mere competition but a threat to Nintendo Dominance.
Sonys Magic Wand has better precision than the wiimote, the combination of the PSEYE cam which will open up new motion gameplay opportunities, but most of all It’s all in HD.
