Microsoft May Stop Sonys Momentum With Halo: ODST This Month
The PS3 Slim is here and it’s on fire with tremendous momentum. Sony can now be considered not just competition but a threat in the console war considering the high multi-media value your getting inside this system. Now this momentum will carry on throughout the year and beyond but there may be some stumbling blocks ahead because the competition isn’t just going to let Sony destroy them without a fight. Septemeber 1st, starts a full month in motion with the PS3 Slim and the NPD charts as well as worldwide sales, journalist , and TV personalities will be awaiting to see some positive results. Sony is doing great and now they are doing even better but this month they face some stiff competition and the name is HALO 3: ODST.
HALO is a name that needs no introduction and when ODST is released this month with a $199 price tag on the cheapest Xbox360 SKU this will turn heads dramatically. Sony is on a roll but they roll may very well see it’s first hiccup when this game is released. This years E3′09 saw some amazing things but something very important was also revealed and, that’s the fact that HALO 3: ODST was the game that was highest voted by gamers as the game most people are looking forward to this year.
Microsoft is in a great space as opposed to last gen with the xbox 1 because now it’s not only Halo that’s keeping them afloat, it’s the Online, Exclusives, Price, and great marketing that has answered the call for Microsoft. The PS3 Slim will continue to do extremely well but HALO will be Sonys cryptonite for a little while until the following month when the release of the Game Of Show E3′09 Uncharted 2 hits store shelves.
HALO is also a game known to have some serious longevity so this question is for the gamers out there.
The HALO effect how long will it last this time around considering the PS3 is Slim and it’s $299?

I think your getting a little to opimistic with HALO, although halo ODST will sell, its stil a peice of software that alone cannot justify what your getting with ps3. Not only that HALO ODST still fails to do the key thing with the series, compete visually with PS3 titles, this engine although with respect to the engine is decent but it fails to take away anything from the likes of killzone 2 U2 hell visually its comparable to Res 2 and thats the issue, based on gameplay and hype yes this game has potential but , this title alone cannot be the cryptionite simply because it doesnt offer enough on the plate to justify it. Halo reach with its new engine will be more deserving of this title, but honeslty anyone playing killzone 2 this engine seems out dated, gameplay and a name can take you but so far before you realize your getting a inferior product to the better FPS titles out there.
Totally disagree…Halo:ODST is the same shit as Halo3..nothing new here move along. Its just hype

Halo is old news. Even with this new game! The devs themselves said that it’s just like Halo 3 just a little better. So, what can you expect from that? FAIL!
As a few people have mentioned before. Everyone that likes the halo series already has a Xbox 360. This game is not a system seller what so ever. Its going to sell loads of software no doubt about it but when it comes to selling systems know body’s gonna say. Hey I have to buy a xbox 360 for that new halo game thats coming out. It won’t happen.
Uncharted 2 will shift systems for Sony. Not so many because it’s the second game this gen but some because it looks absolutly amazing. GT5 will shift loads of systems for Sony because of the graphics, the amount it sold on previous systems(PS1, PS2) and GOW3 is gonna sell systems because it’s the first gow game to release this gen. Halo odst is only to keep the fans happy
Halo 3:ODST will ruin the PS3 Slims hopes of winning September. There is no substitute for great games people. Halo 3 is still the #1 played game now 2 years running, with some interference for Gears 2, COD:MW, & COD:W@W, but Halo 3 held firm for the last several months.
Killzone 2’s problem is it lacks features, period. No co-op in Killzone 2 immediately kills any chance of competing with Halo 3 or ODST.
When Killzone 2 is loaded with all the features of Halo 3, then we’ll see how good the game looks. Also, Uncharted 2 will not sell anywhere close to ODST #’s, not close at all!

Man your being crazy. For starters what’s Killzone 2 got to do with this piece of news and second Halo odst Won’t, I repeat Won’t shift any consols for Microsoft. Everyone that likes the series has a Xbox 360. Your being foolish man Killzone 2 destroys Halo in every possible way. Just because the sales of Killzone 2 don’t match that of Halo doesn’t mean it’s better. Sales don’t mean better

but all i’m saying is that halo odst isnt enough to stop Sony at this point.
okay most of the games that are coming out in this month are on both consoles,
apart from few exclusive halo odst and (section 8 just like halo to me)

Killzone 2 is scripted graphics, it looks very good in spots. For example, the building you destroy in Killzone 2, right next to it is another building, you cant leave a bullet mark, rocket launcher mark on it, nothing. Everything you hit in Halo leaves a mark, burn, hole, or something.
You cant drive that make believe warthog in Killzone 2, you have to drive that terrible driving tank. In Halo, All vehicles can be driven, tanks, warthogs, small 4 wheelers, & flying vehicles. Also, in Halo, the AI can drive you around while you shoot from any seat! You cant do this in Killzone 2.
Walk through the water in Killzone 2, you get a generic splash, do the same in Halo, the water wades to the movement going through it.
I can go on forever, I have many examples of the completeness of Halo 3 in comparison to Killzone 2. I’ll leave you with one more: depth of field, look off into the distance in Killzone 2, doesn’t it look terrible; look off into the distance in Halo 3 & what you see, you will eventually make it to.

its the best game cuz i dont play much or at all but the developers definitely focus more on game play and as for Hiphop Gamer always talking about graphics from heavy rain solely taking the pc, thats simply ridiculous and disrespectful
People always bring up graphics and say they ain’t important but usually there the first people to go out and buy a 1000 pound HD tv and go out and buy a HD consol. Of course graphics are important. It’s what made us all shift from PS1 to PS2 and PS2 to PS3 catch my drift. A game has to look good now a days for better enjoyment. An example take the same game on 2 different consols thats exactly the same gameplay and features except one of them’s on the PS2 and the others on the PS3 and you have both of those consol’s. Your not going to choose the PS2 version over the PS3 version now are you. Your going to choose the better looking game. B

i think it will, but its got nothing against a whole new system.
but as a whole M$ will win this month because they have 2 exclusives this month, section 8 and halo ODST, where sony has 0.
but october is going to be a whole different story M$ only has forza 3 where sony has uncharted 2, ninja gaiden sigma 2, ratchet and clank a crack in time and deamon souls.
so this month goes to m$ next month to sony.
november is anyone’s guess since neither camp have any exclusives out then, and december will be sonys month because the GOW collection is out then, and GT5 is rumored to be out then to.

Look I spent a month online and off line playing Killzone 2 when it was released and it was the best looing thing I had ever seen in consol gaming. Sparks flying everywhere, bullet effects, blood splattin, dust been blown everywhere by the wind, the lighting effects in the game. There’s so much going on in that game that it just brings the game to life. Realistic gun’s with proper recoil. The character moves just like you really would with a heavy weapon in your hands. The way the AI moves around and attacks you. The AI is that smart that they try and flank you a lot in the game. As your trying to push forward, there trying to push forward and the damage. How can you say that about the envirnment damage in killzone 2.

Theres the link to a youtube video showing the envirnment damage in the game. If you watch that video you’ll see how accurate the damage is in the game. I’ve seen Halo 3 in action a few times and the effects in that game are no were near that of Killzone 2.
Vehicles are not important at all in a first person shooter like this and if you want to talk vehicles then Battlefield bad company has it all and more than what halo 3 has. But you won’t even try and compare that to halo 3 now will you.
If you look off into the distance of Killzone 2 you’ll see dozens of lightning strikes, cloads and dust getting blown all around the place because your on a differant planet with a differant climate to earth that is very unstable and it just adds a lot more to the realism to the game than what’s already there.
I think you should go out and rent Killzone 2 out instead of judging it off the demo and then tell me all those points again because Halo 3 isn’t even in the same league as Killzone 2

Because u heard this before, whats a game with good graphics and bad gameplay = shitty game now take a game with fair graphics but good gameplay and it well do alot better catch My drift
