you’re talking out of 2 sides of your mouth hiphop. first you’re saying that they’re equal(which is absolutely not true). and then go on later to say all the things that uncharted 2 do better. this right here, is a major problem in the industry, “inconsistency”. just look at gametrailer’s review of uncharted 2 for example, they hail it to be the best looking game graphically following on from the first uncharted which they also said was the best looking console game at the time, but when it came to giving the best graphics award, they gave it to COD4, and i bet they do the same with MW2. i absolutely hate it when people say one thing and mean another.

anyways, keep up the good work, and try to be more consistent in the future. i really like the idea of video articles, just try and refine it a bit more. 1 luv and God Bless.

HHG I don’t think my audio comment is going to play so excuse my lack of technical skills. You make an interesting argument for both Uncharted 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction. I believe you are stating that both games are equal in quality in respect to their platform and I agree, however I do see a clear superior production value in favor of Uncharted 2. While Splinter Cell: Conviction does look to offer an amazing action-packed story and upgraded game play features, Uncharted 2 plays like a summer blockbuster movie in the palm of your hands.

It is difficult to make premature judgments about SC: Conviction since it releases next year. The game is already playing at a very high level however, at the end of the day I believe it is going to be extremely difficult for Ubisoft to pull-off what Naughty Dogs has done with Uncharted 2 based on the limited format they are forced to utilize.

Two different stories, gameplay, release dates. Neither game needs to match either one in qaulity and since you want to compare two completely different games then you might as well listed every upcoming game in comparision even though that is pointless. What is with the pointless comparisions? When people pick up Uncharted I don’t know why anyone would care about Splinter Cell and vice versa.

  5. Comment by hiphopgamer — October 9, 2009 @ 8:23 am

oh my god @mboojigga it’s not a direct comparison like you making it seem dog all i’m saying is that in terms of quality what splinter cell is doing for the 360 in terms of the next big step for nex gen gaming is on the level of uncharted 2 and what their bringing to the table for the PS3, even though overall uncharted 2 is the better product cause it offers more and exceeds in some technical aspects over splinter cell in terms of sheer quality splinter cell will have a major impact on the 360 console that fans haven’t been witnessed to in like a years time

They have like for like Quality but I think U2 is better
It’s a big game and with that kind quality its great ps3 all about quality
For ms this is the best attempt but I think when splinter cell comes out Sony will
Have another game that can out do U2 in quality
If you want to compare it do it against MGS4
But anyways when splinter cell is out another Sony exclusive will be in the pipelines
To beat U2 in quality terms so if you think about it Sony kills Ms in exclusive department
Even Naughty dog said it U2 engine can be improved and tweaked
For U3 which will look even better than U2

HHG is right it a tie

How about actually playing at least ONE of the two titles before we make any kind of comparison?

HHG needs to play catch up on journalism

  9. Comment by rblover69 — October 9, 2009 @ 10:48 am

One key thing to note that the developer stated that splinter cell can be done on ps3 , this isnt so on nuaghty dog. Actually if you look at it there is no developer touting anything on 360 that is exclsuive to the platforms power , but on theps3 side numerous 3rd parties have stated the contrary.

  10. Comment by mboojigga — October 9, 2009 @ 10:51 am

King already said it how about actually playing both of the FINISHED products. Except that wasn’t even my point. We already know how you are making claims on games you yourself have yet to touch all you mainly go by is graphics and still don’t understand why games live by the gameplay they provide has always been the main factor.

Look at your title “Can Splinter Cell Match Uncharted 2 Quality For XBOX360”

I am going to simply answer it for you….NO it can’t. Uncharted 2 cannot match the qaulity of Halo. Why? Because it is a matter of opinion and I know just about 99% of gamers are not thinking about Splinter Cell that will be out in Feb 10 when they are playing Uncharted 2 and wonder these things. The more you do these pointless comparisions the more your site continues to turn into the newsstand papers you see in the aisle that says “Oprah leaves Stedman….for Jay-Z????” Turn to page 2 for the photos.

As far as visually, U2 has a draw distance and fidelity that i have not seen in any title, Splitner cell looks to be a smaller world game not only that the amount of physics and partical effects of U2 has yet to be seen anywhere in splinter cell. I mean entire buildings collapse in U2 maintaing a unmatched draw distance on the landscape and helicopters numerous baddies and environmental effects all running at the same time.

Splinter cell will be a great game, but visually alot more needs to be seen to be comparable visually to the already proven beast of U2.

  12. Comment by Demobot — October 9, 2009 @ 1:41 pm

So basically what everyone is saying is that if SC doesn’t look as good as U2 then its a lower quality game. That is a fantastic way to look at it. I might as well say that SC will be the higher quality game since it will sell more.

  13. Comment by rblover69 — October 9, 2009 @ 2:06 pm

Sales dont make great games, but visuals can define benchmarks to which genres are defined. To different things. You can have a game not sell and yet be the industrys standard for fidelity. U2 from what is def above SC but that doesnt make it a worser game, just not as graphically impresssive overall , althought for the 360 with respect to whats on that platform exclsuivly its impressive.

Halo sold more then crysis but the industry standard is crysis as far as visual fidelity whether people like the game play or not. Killzone 2 did its thing but now you have the console benchmark for PFS all being compared to killzone 2.

Its how we define power with console progression. The wii make leaps on bounds in controller and body itneraction but it often gets overlooked because your playing with no HD graphics on a dreamcast level of visual presentation.

Because it sold more then ps3 and 360 doesnt mean it has the best games. Sales again is a poor poor reason to by a game, but buying a game because it pushing the visual limit of a console because its a HD system and you have a HD setup is perfectly within rational.

Unless your the dev or work for them, sales should be a moot topic. I find that most 360 owners moreso then wii owners talk sales talk 24-7 mean while they should be complaining about the lack of numerous genre defininig AAA first party titles or titles showcasing something ps3 cannot do.

there both great games, but visually U2 has risent he bare def above what where seeing in SC from a tech feat.

    Both first day buys reguardless.

SC don’t even come close to quality U2.I think people need to accept the fact that the PS3 is outperforming the 360 right know. The 360 has a 1year headstart over sony and i have yet to see any game on the 360 to outperform the first uncharted including SC… and to hiphopgamer i can remember on how you’re were saying how uncharted was the best game you ever seen know you’re saying SC look more realistic KEEP IT REAL U2 is SHITTING on the 360.

  16. Comment by Shadowolf — October 9, 2009 @ 6:04 pm

I have to say, it is important to listen to the argument before shooting out unwarranted criticisms. These is not a game for game comparison of which game is better, the video article is looking at the (QUALITY) of both titles. This is a legitimate argument that makes you look at what the games are offering.

In my previous comment I stated that when it is all said and done even after SC:C releases next year, I believe UC2 would remain at a higher level of quality than SC:C. I am basing my opinion from a hands-on experience and hardware perspective. No I am not saying the PS3 is better than the 360, that’s a matter of preference however, because UC2 offers a high level of voice overs in different languages, arguably the most robust graphical presentation on a console since KILLZONE 2, a true orchestra sound mixed with dolby-digital uncompressed sound at 7.1 all mixed into a game that runs at a smooth 60 frames per second on one blu-ray disc is amazing. Also mixing the multiplayer and co-op component which all run at the same clip is going to be hard to match.

HHG, solid video article. Keep’em coming :-)

There is a problem with comparing these two games and that problem is that you’re comparing a 3rd party developers game with a 2nd party game that Sony has dumped a great deal of money in(it’s not a cop-out it’s just the reality of money). The fact that you even can say something like this just shows you why Ubisoft is held in such high esteem unlike some of the other big publishers.
People have this idea that it’s the platform’s power that allows Naughty Dog to do all this when the reality is that they are one of the very best developers on the planet and they could put out just as beautiful game on the Xbox 360 if they were given the time and money to do so. Could Uncharted 2 work on the 360… probably not… they’ve created an Engine that is super specific to the platform… it’s highly unlikely it would run on anything else without massive overhaul. The actual game could be done if build from the ground up and saying it wont is ignorance.
One of the Xbox 360’s graphical weaknesses was the fact that you had to use the Direct X api and couldn’t write your own. This is because every game on the 360 has to utilize the functions that are built into the console and any additional functions that are added later on. They’ve addressed this recently with some tighter APIs though how much more of the system it can leverage isn’t known to me. For me personally Uncharted 2 takes a clear back seat to Splinter Cell. I loved Chaos Theory (the last SC that these guys did) and I’m sure that Conviction will set another standard in how stealth action should be done. Personally I think both are going to take a back seat to Mass Effect 2…

Your artical was good, but you really can’t say to much about SC:Convition’s action scenes… we’ve seen what 2 small portions of two diffrent levels and they haven’t released any info on the MP yet… also Splinter Cell 5 has been exclusive since it’s announcement at Microsoft’s X06… this is the official line from the release
Microsoft and Ubisoft announced that the next “Splinter Cell” title will be created exclusively for Xbox 360. Based on the increasingly proven potential of the Xbox 360 hardware and its online promise, Ubisoft confirmed that Xbox 360 will be the exclusive platform for the next iteration of its influential and massively popular espionage franchise. Through the power of Xbox Live, the series that revolutionized online cooperative and competitive gameplay promises to transform and modernize online gaming once again.
