Microsoft brought gamers Acheivements which was a genius move on their part, and a feature that has changed the gaming industry. This feature has also been an inspiration for other companies such as the introduction of trophies with Sonys Playstation 3. This new revelation in the form of Uplay by Ubisoft is incredible and in terms of standards, this is the future.

This is a good feature, I can’t wait to start using it when I get AC2 next week.
However, you completely over-reacted to this. It’s a great feature, don’t get me wrong. But you’re making it sound like it’s the best thing that’s hit the gaming industry ever. It’s only in-game rewards, just the same as you can buy rewards in Uncharted 2 or in Tekken. The only difference here is that it’s going to be across all Ubisoft games, but does that really change it up that much? This is an EVOLUTIONARY step, not a revolutionary one.
This would’ve been worth making an article about if they were going to give you REAL rewards, like send you a T-Shirt for getting a platinum in a couple of games, or give you discount on a future game. But just in-game rewards? You had me all exited for absolutely nothing. This honestly isn’t a big deal at all.
Also, how on Earth is this at all related to trophies/achievements? Like I said before, games have had in-game rewards for completing in-game tasks for decades. This is only slightly different, in that Ubissoft are doing it across all their games. As I said, evolutionary not revolutionary.

you perform requirements and you unlock points, with the points you can unlock stuff in-game. Though it doesn’t give you description.

things for your avatar is cool but even with playstation man you can unlock actual arcades for free in home and play games that’s crazy right there, but the article is geared towards trophies and acheivements as a whole homey. and Uplay is a system built for ubisofts games that gives you rewards that microsoft and sony would make you pay for. there’s no trophy or acheivement that’s going to unlock multi-player modes, new weapons and things like that. a game like uncharted has something like that but it’s specific to that game. imagine if you played soul calibur 4 on ps3 and when you get a certain trophy yoda gets unlocked. that’s alot better than paying for it, also costume packs for street fighter people paid for that when a system that ubisoft has set up will give it too you for free just for playing the game. that’s what i’m talking about and that’s what my article is about
I think all this achievements stuff is the most pointless thing ever and I’m amazed at the craze people have over them, and I don’t think I’ll ever understand them.

I know what you said, and I understand your point, but I don’t think that this is any different from any in-game rewards system introduced anywhere. I seriously doubt that Ubisoft is going to give away DLC when they can make so much more money selling it. If anything, it’ll be U-Play exclusive DLC that you can only get for registering to the site. And what do all websites want? More subscribers or visitors. And giving people an incentive to join the site is nothing new. I mean no disrespect, this is just my point of view/opinion…

the Achievement awards offer items for your avatar. you get items for getting in game achievements.
for anyone who hasn’t seen this, Feel free to check out Halo Waypoint (free download on XBL) for an example. you can view the items you’ve earned by going to your “customize Avatar” section and viewing them under “awards”
also, though this is a very cool feature, it doesn’t really mean much outside of ubisoft games and is therefore very limited.
the achievement and trophy systems are vastly superior in that they offer a running tab and grand total of your in game achievements throughout everything you play. thats all it was about anyway.

also, I don’t want a description of exactly how to get every achievement. You may want it to be “easier”. you may need your hand held and be told exactly what to do

They immediately stopped giving away free games, downloads, ect.. because they found that people can boost their gamer score.
For example, I can go on a certain website, and download a Kingkong game save, upload it to my 360 via a special usb adapter, and within moments of renaming that game-save (to my gamertag), I can add 1000pt to my gamerscore.
THAT is the reason why they dont give away free shit… because hackers ruined it for everyone.
