Xbox360 Games Optimized For Hard Drives In 2010
Microsoft for years dealt with storage issues that have possibly held back the performance of game titles that has been released thus far. True it’s amazing what has been done with the DVD standard but in reality without the use of a Hard Drive xbox360 is at a disadvantage in terms of getting more out of the xbox360 games library.
2010 may very well be the year that major changes will occur on Microsofts platform. Rockstar games said it themselves that Xbox360 needs to find away around storage issues and Hard Drive optimization is the answer and the results will be revealed very soon.

I have a few questions regarding this X-Engine and HDD optimization.
1) You said that the X-Engine will help release 100MB – 200MB more data for games to try and look better and/or run better. How does that compare to the enormous leg room in a BluRay Disk coupled with the HDD, Edge 2 and Cell?
2) Optimizing the games to work better with the HDD, remembering that 360 games are on DVD, how will the optimization plus X-Engine help the game out?
I’m not trying to shoot down the 360, just curious…

Great Video bro. The 360 should did that since the launch in Nov. 05. Here a question for HHG if you want to make a video article. Do you think the muiltplatform games should come later for the PS3? Here is my opinion on it. The devs are not taking advantage of the CPU. The X-Engine won’t release anymore power from the 360. Its just an optimized game engine like Crytech’s engine for the 360 and the PS3. Also, MS released new dev kits with 512mb of extra RAM to be used for debugging.
Hip Hop Gamer got his facts twisted. The extra ram in the dev kits are for the degugging process only and allows devs to test there games while using all 512mb of the 360’s ram. Before the debugging process ate into the old dev kits memory and devs were not able to get all that they could out of the 360. That combine with better optimized game engines along with devs making games for the 360 with hdd’s in mind should help raise the quality of games on the 360

x-engine and the optimization of the hard drive will allow developers to get more out of the system, in terms of the debug mode, yes it’s easier to test the games but the difference is that you’ll actually be able to use more memory ranging from 20 to 100mb for the game itself. soon i’ll have something special for ya’ll aight someone who can explain it in deeper detail since some of you don’t fully understand it. god bless yo peace

most people who have a 200$ 360 are causuals or they dont give a crap about performance. bottom line 360 has dug a deep hole. something tells me the xbox 360 will be just like the xbox. they will cut it short just like the xbox. they either need to make a bigger dvd disk or just role with it. what else can they do? make a bluray add on? what about those 33 mill who already have a 360? y buy an addon when the ps3 is cheap and available? the 360 cant raise any graphical leaps that can surpass gears2, not to talk of uncharted2 heavy rain god of war 3 even MAG.what can 360 do now? 360 cannot survive alone on multiplat. sony is the king of brilliant new ip’s.when is the last time 360 made an exclusive ip? not in awhile.
What my understanding is…Hdd will help 360 like PC.. we all see some games take 5-10 GB of hard drive when you install the game evenn though you install just 1 dvd.. all data was zipped and extracted in HDD. So, if games come with 2 Dual Layer Disc in 360.. one for intall the data in HDD and one for playing the game.. that means bigger games with better quality and performance. like the forza 3 2nd disc.. its cool to me if the games quality like Splinter Cell video type !! thanks for pointing this !!
@ Demobot – That’s what I’m confused about. With what HHG said so far about it, I still don’t see whow it will be on par with the PS3. I’m not saying it won’t be better for the 360, but from what HHG has mentioned, I don’t see an improvement so big.
@ HHG – I guess I’ll have to wait for your new post talking more in depth about it. I suggest you compare and contrast what it can do with what the PS3 does for all our sakes.

I guess they better hurry up and prove you right seeing as how not only have they passed the liftime sales of the first Xbox but they have already gone on record COUNTLESS times saying they are not ending the 360. Seeing how 2012 is 2 years away I guess you have that to go against to see who is right.

What does release dates have to do with lifetime sales MEANING the individual product being sold to the consumer? The Xbox world wide sales was 24 million. The 360 HAS surpassed the lifetime sales of the Xbox which his claim simply was discontinuing the product. WTF!!!
@ mboojigga – My Bad, I thought that you meant the first Xbox was still selling. Well, they still haven’t surpassed the first Xbox’s lifetime just yet. Come November 2010 will mark the 360’s 5 year and lifetime for the Xbox. We’ll, have to see how this year turns out for 360. I for one don’t doubt that they’ll surpass the first Xbox, but I don’t see them wining this generation.
