LOL brink looks no where near killzone 2. even the people at G4 knows that. and theyve been promoting brink. even if that dream came true uncharted 2 is still out. plus the rumored killzone 3. plus AGENT. but whatever. and if gamefly comes to 360 we’ll have to wait to wait a couple of months 4 the ps3 like the usual.

  2. Comment by pixelsword — December 6, 2009 @ 2:49 pm

Much love to the show and everyone, but I gotta ask a question: when you said that people said that the 360 couldn’t pull off Killzone-like graphics, weren’t you one of them? Because I remember that you and Tor went Back and fourth on his site when you were saying that the 360 couldn’t pull it off because of the DVD and Tor disagreed; I could be wrong because my memory is fuzzy on that, but I’m almost sure it went down similar to that.

Anyways, good show, and you should look at “The Industry” series on youtube or the site of the guy that made it.

    http://www.youtube.com/user/theindustryexposed#p/c/9AB9FC8DFCE80143/0/1Mkemhw1T04

    it’s very eye-opening.

HHG I have to agree with fortune cookie…

Brink looks good but it definitely does not look any where near Killzone 2’s graphics. The explosions look very weak (just a black dust cloud); no partial destruction on any building structures; no weather effects (rain, dust storms etc.); it does not half as much action on screen as Kz2 (again 8v8 vs 16v16). As for it looking sharper… it does no doubt but again the environment effects are non existent which will not immerse the player in the game like Kz2. Bottom line… looking from the videos it doesn’t look like a living breathing world as much as Kz2 IMO.

  4. Comment by otherZinc — December 6, 2009 @ 4:04 pm

MW2 surpassed Killzone 2 graphics, you guys dont want to admit that because its on the 360. The thing is, when you have a scripted non co-op game, you can produce a game with very good graphics on either system.

When the co-op campaign feature is present in a game the graphics will suffer, this is the only reason Killzone 2 & Uncharted 2 look as good as they do, MW2 the same, their campaign with the omission of the co-op feature looks tremendous.

When SONY makes an exclusive game with campaign co-op, then tell me how powerful the PS3 really is!

  5. Comment by CrimsonFox13 — December 6, 2009 @ 4:30 pm

I’ve seen the videos of Brink, they’re not as impressive as Killzone 2 or Uncharted 2. And, otherZinc, Uncharted 2 has co-op. It’s not the exact same as the campaign, but it goes through the same parts and has tons of enemies and still looks as good as single player. I love listening to idiots pretend they know what they’re talking about.

  6. Comment by darkknight0996 — December 6, 2009 @ 4:33 pm

    @ otherZinc

Uncharted2 have co-op, and if you think MW2 looks better than KZ2 may be you want to check your eyes. and one last thing who told you that co-op is what show PS3 or 360 power just take a look at KZ2 MP 16 vs 16 on moving train now that is power.

  7. Comment by Dustin — December 6, 2009 @ 4:37 pm

KZ 2 has much better graphics then Brink so far. I doubt Brink will end up looking better. Although It will look good and run good.

  8. Comment by lol — December 6, 2009 @ 5:03 pm

lol k2 isn’t the graphics king U2 is lol
and by the way brink graphics look worse srry and bethesda isn’t making brink splash damage is the game that surpass k2 is Rage if you don’t count u2

if that gamefly app does come to da 360 or ps3 or both then that dog will b fire straight up. also i havent seen da video for brink so i cant comment on the KZ2 vs Brink from a graphical point of view. but as always, it was a very great show today thanks for bringin it to us & keep doin yo thing dog peace.

  11. Comment by CyberCam — December 6, 2009 @ 5:14 pm

    @otherZinc

It’s blatantly obvious that you do not own a PS3 and have not played Uc2, otherwise you would know that it DOES have co-op and the graphics look identical to the single player part of the game. Also, Kz2’s multiplayer pretty damn close to it’s single player counter part!

  12. Comment by Kapado — December 6, 2009 @ 5:15 pm

Come on Son ! Fuk outta here with that bulls.hit ,Brink looks better than Killzone2, u know u was wrong for that sh.it. No wonder NY fell off yall trippin.

  13. Comment by xino — December 6, 2009 @ 5:34 pm

Shinobi. On PS2 was the actual NG! But NG is a rip off of Shinobi on PS2.
Now I do wish this game does come out so i too can finally experience Shinobi as I missed out on the classic 2d version and PS2 and NightShade.

I love Brinks graphics:) It looks so much like Killzone 2 and sort of have like cell shaded in it:)

I like the game advert you always use in between your show, good!

and that Warzonegamer makes me laugh

(separation Anxiety) HHG was jizzing himself.

And HHG you are really hyping up BC2:/ Modern Combat was awesome, but i love MW2’s single player campaign so much. I just hope the multiplayer for MC2 will feel like Modern Combat.

    1. If brink was only on PS3 would you guys still think that killzone 2 looks better or would you accept the fact the brink or any game coming out in the future could look better than killzone?

    2. I’ve seen the game in person and everyone knows i’m a graphics whore and I love killzone 2 but you have to give credit when credit is due and brink deserves

    3. Brinks graphics are richer in color, sharper and a bit more vibrant, you guys want to talk about detail look at the fingers, the gun, the character models trust me man it’s better. Now the game isn’t better by a lot I just said slightly and anyone looking at the brink videos keep in mind that this game isn’t done.

    4. More about brink coming soon peace and god bless

  17. Comment by dboyjealous — December 6, 2009 @ 8:21 pm

im sorry but i have to disagree. i saw BRINK and it looks awesome. but KZ2 looks better visually and graphically in my opnion. wel BRINK developers still have a year to work on this game so it will look better by then. the gameplay looks really awesome, its like mirrors edge with kz2. cant wait to try it.

  18. Comment by SSJNeBiRoS — December 6, 2009 @ 8:43 pm

I repeat that what you and the rest of the press have seen about Brink until now is from the PC build, not the consoles, either PS3 or 360.

For me Brink is almost on par on the grafic level, almost, but in the post-processing level KillZone 2 is still the king for me.

  19. Comment by mikemadden — December 6, 2009 @ 9:53 pm

    @otherzinc what’s your psn bro.

its only a matter of time before killzone is overthrown from graphic king. but saying brink is that game after only seeing one level is dumb. every game this gen seem to be full of hype. can we wait to a demo or a preview before we crown this game.

  20. Comment by DR Jam — December 6, 2009 @ 11:50 pm

Shinobi would kick ass. Especially if made by the guys who did Bayoonetta.
Brink looks phenomenal, but the AI is looking lame and I hope there will more foes on screen.

You really should explain yourself for that, because it makes you sound foolish. Did you even play Ninja Gaiden Black?

  22. Comment by DavidPalmer — December 7, 2009 @ 4:52 am

No No NOOOOO HHG. Come on man. Ive seen this video of Brink. 1. Killzone 2 lost its crown to Uncharted 2. 2 Killzone 2 has a lot more shit going on at once then this walkthrough of brink. And if anything, you should be more on RaGE then brink to take Killzone2 supposed title. RAGE not Brink will surpass killzone2. And if you go watch the killzone2:Behnind the bullet and listen to the commentary youd see that the commercial they showed is basically gonna be what Killzone3 looks like. NO GAME has ever goten close enough to where you can see the detail of someone’s eye ingame.

So even if Rage and Brink surpass Killzone2 GOW3 and Killzone 3 will both raise the bar once again.
    Brink PLEASSSSE!!!

  23. Comment by pixelsword — December 7, 2009 @ 5:37 am

    1. If brink was only on PS3 would you guys still think that killzone 2 looks better or would you accept the fact the brink or any game coming out in the future could look better than killzone?

    >>A. “looks better” is subjective, and to say that one thing is better than the other is up to the individual because a person may use different criteria than another person to judge whether or not a game is better looking for them or not. “Sharp” textures are a contention point for a lot of people because very few things are sharp in the real world; so whether or not the environment in question is trying to emulate realistic environments (even if futuristic) may not benefit from being “sharp” as much as being “believable”.
    >>B. Keeping in consideration with my first point, there are games that came out on the PS3 that are exclusive that came out after Killzone 2 that still did not look as good as Killzone 2 (INfamous) and games that came out that exceeded it’s graphical ambiance (Uncharted 2), so I don’t believe that whether Brink is on the PS3 exclusively is not really a factor to the decisions people are making about Brink. If a true comparison is to be made, you’re looking at graphics versus size of boards versus number of characters onscreen, versus animation, versus interactivity (characters and environment) versus overall ambiance (particles, debris, destructibility, foley, SFX, etc.) to put both games in perspective.
    >>C. Saying that games will not progress beyond Killzone would be basically stating that the PS3 has reached it’s limits graphically; which although is plausible, is unlikely considering that the “interactive commercial” that Guerrilla Games released over the PSN already showed improvements to the engine as stated by one of the designers. In short, I think there’s a lot of juice left in that crate.

    2. I’ve seen the game in person and everyone knows i’m a graphics whore and I love killzone 2 but you have to give credit when credit is due and brink deserves
    >>Not too many people have seen it, so it’s hard to give it credit until it is actually witnessed in person. If we only have clips then that’s all everyone has to go by, which is fine if 100% accurate, but the result is that it’s not going to be as accurate and therefore not as credible as a demo.

    >>Good points, but again it’s subjective; you’re looking at the “world” each is trying to construct and then you’ll have to go by those points instead.

    For example:

Look at both a city fully constructed
    http://www.taproot.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/downtown-san-antonio2.jpeg

Now, look at a city in a warzone.
    http://cache4.asset-cache.net/xc/72714970.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=4996399091E83186D56C6FC13D661B53191F19EEEB4B00E7

Neither picture has vibrant colors or is colorful, nor has rich colors; so if a game is trying to reflect a realistic environment, it will take out a lot of the color for the sake of realism. That’s what 95% of all critics fail to realize when judging a game based upon war.

In war, those things are mostly bombed-out, bunt-up, shot-up, buried, and washed-away. Sure, not all realistic war scenes lack color, that’s not true at all; but most bricks aren’t colorful, and there’s mostly bricks lying around from the buildings that just got bombed.

  24. Comment by pixelsword — December 7, 2009 @ 5:41 am

    P.S.

The hand/weapons point I cannot make a decision on either because I would need to see it in it’s native resolution, but it’s not like I don’t believe you; it’s just that everyone’s opinion will be different, so I might not come to the same overall conclusion… but it looks promising, and I wouldn’t expect it not to be considering that Killzone 2 has been out for almost a year.

Funny thing here is.. console gamers know zero about graphics..
You can see here.. they only talk about Crysis, Kz2 and uncharted2.. when its more then a fact that Dirt2 on PC has 10times the graphical power Uncharted2 kz 2 or crysis has..
wanne know why my dear console gamers ?
Cause it runs on directX11.. and your pritty console games will run those graphics when “xbox720″ and ps4 comes out..have fun waiting i guess O_o

And brink sure as hell will look better in its finished state on PC then any of those console games.. cause it runs on DirectX10…(the gameplay footage u can see from brink is from half a year ago fyi)..alot can change in a period of time like that…well..developers already said the graphics/shaders have improved since then…so it even looks more better now then it already does and will only evolve over time since it still has like a year more development to go.

  27. Comment by pixelsword — December 7, 2009 @ 9:33 am

No one talks about PC’s much because each PC has a different spec (that, and no one was talking about a PC game to begin with). Sure, PC’s have the best graphics *when souped-up*, but that’s not the case for most PC gamers. Sure, Dirt 2 may have the “best graphics ever” on a super PC, but how many people who has it on PC experienced it? Or experienced those famous Crysis graphics? or the stellar graphics from Quake Wars? You can go on youtube right now and for every great PC gameplay walkthrough on there, there’s a crappy one; so yes, PC’s have the *capacity* for the best graphics; potential, if you will: but because of the nature of PC gaming no one can universally state a game will look one way on all pc’s.

Heck, you can’t even say that a game will work on all PC’s sometimes.

  28. Comment by Richdad — December 7, 2009 @ 2:22 pm

Brink looks great it made from idteh 5 and runs on 30 fps. So it looks better than even rage which runs on 60 fps. Same engine lesse frames you see more opportunity. The only problem wiht brink is that it is more colorful and may be some aspects of KZ2 would be better. BUt overall package (graphically) brink may out KZ2 and thats what is expeted of idtech5 afterall they always had the upper hand.

  29. Comment by xino — December 7, 2009 @ 6:49 pm

    @DR Jam

Shinobi came out first in 3D that utilized hardcore gameplay.
Team NINJA copied Shinobi stuff and changed it overall, the way Ryu moves with his sword stealth is exactly the same way Shinobi does in the PS2 version. Both games are incredibly hard. Shinobi has that long staff wrapped around him, RYu has the same, Shinobi can wall run, Ryu can do that too. If you think they were just a coincidence, remember that the sercert project “Ninja Gaiden” started out on PS2, so they most likely got some ideas off Shinobi.
And then you have Ninja Blade, Team NINJA didn’t comment on Ninja Blade looking like Ninja Gaiden because Ninja Gaiden is like Shinobi. FromSoftware copied Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden and came out with Ninja Blade.
And FromSoftware are smart developers because they will steal stuff from other games because they know that the developers who made that game wasn’t 100% original with all the content in the game since those contents were borrowed from another game.

    @DavidPalmer

The reason why HHG compared Brink’s graphic to Killzone 2, not because they are both FPS. But because Brink has the same graphics style of Killzone 2 but with more colour vibrant. Killzone 2 is just grey and shading all the time.

  30. Comment by DR Jam — December 7, 2009 @ 11:14 pm

    @ Xino

I see that you have pretty much made up your mind and I respect that, while I disagree with you.
They are both ninja who utilize ninjitsu, even the early 2d games were somewhat similar, even though Shinobi was easier. They both fight with a Katana so it’s not uncommon that both have similar poise/moves. When it comes to the scarf, it’s one of those accessories that it’s comon among ninjas, you can’t say that just because one wears chain mail, it doesn’t mean that one imitates the others, besides it’s a visual component of the gameplay.

I am not saying that it’s impossible that Team Ninja (TN) may have used Shinobi as one of its many sources of inspiration, but to claim that copied Shinobi altogether sounds preposterous to me.

If you have the time, just check out 45 secs of these two videos, it’s clear that NG is miles away ahead of Shinobi, and how irrelevant it is to refer plausible and superficial features as the reason why TN blatantly copied Shinobi:

    Shinobi: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/trailer-1-shinobi/3520
