I would like to start this review off by saying I am the ultimately transformers fan.I grew up in the Reagan era when it first started (Shout out to all my 80’s baby’s). I own three out of the four seasons of the 80s television show, and to this day I still rock clothes with the Transformers logo on them. Saying that I truly wanted to love the Transformers revenge of the fallen game, having seen both of the movies and playing the multilayer at E3 I was excited and was hoping that his game would be the greatest Transformers game of all time ,but sadly it fell short of greatness.
The story loosely follows the transformers revenge of the fallen movie and you get to play as some of the characters that died in the beginning of the movie. One of those characters is sideways a Decepticon sports car that was destroyed early in the movie. He to me is one of the best land based transformers. Having a sniper rifle makes him the most enjoyable character to have combat, the narrator yells Head Shot every time you get one so this makes it rewarding to do so in combat.
GRAPHICS: The graphics in Transformers revenge of the fallen are standard for next generation gaming. The characters are true low poly recreations of their cinematic counterparts; Luxoflux did an excellent job in creating the transformation sequences that each character has. The character models are well done and very detailed. It is obvious that the environments did not get the same attention to detail. Many of them are bland and easily forgettable.
SOUND: The voice acting is one of the main reason’s I wanted to get his game the studio rightly hired Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime but they also gave fans of the OG transformers a surprise with the inclusion of Frank Weller, (the original Megatron,) to do the voice work for the new Megatron. The voice for the character Sound wave (who is not playable (BS)) is really similar to the on from the OG show. Another big part of the Transformers is a sound that they make between transformations this in my opinion should also have sampled that from the old shows also.
ENTERTAINMENT: The main campaign of Transformers revenge of the fallen has various missions including search and destroy missions, racing missions, and boss fights, and as fun as it is the first play through. It just doesn’t give you enough of a reason to play through it again once you’ve completed the main missions as well as the submissions you unlock. You can chose’s the Lame ass auto bots but the decepticon campaign is better and funnier (in my opinion) Hearing the constant banter between them is Hilarious. Multiplayer is good but unbalanced, If you want to win and not have to respwan every five seconds pick Megatron, Prime, bumblebee,or sideways. The areal ones (like star scream) are a good choice also but everyone else is lame.
REAL TALK: This game is in need of some serious (free) DLC. Racing would be the best DLC for this game, Planes VS Cars , more character’s ,more multiplayer maps, and some campaign missions that have a little bit more meat to them and it could stay in my PS3 all summer long. A great IP, I don’t have to tell anyone who is a transformers fans to pick this up. But for non hard core gamers get it from game fly first if you’d like it buy it. It’s Hella fun to Clap At Autobot Scum !!!!!!!!
