First it was the price point that held Sony back from success when it launched and now the price point is perfect for the value you receive with a Playstation 3 console. The Games library was a bit slim in comparison given Microsofts head start this generation, but now the tables have turned and the games are here more so within exclusive title the Cell Processor outperforms the competition. Playstation Home is a great free additional service which has some perks but the PSN network is the next focus for Sony.

Microsoft Xbox live is the main key point within Microsofts strategy that keeps them ahead as a overall console for the gamers. Once the PSN moves to strike with their network upgrades and features, Xbox Live won’t be as effective considering the fact you will have to pay for something that you get with the PSN network feature for feature for free.

Some people aren’t digging the new firmware 3.00 update. The main complaint that fans have, is with the new redesigned friends list that shows all of your friends names in big grey rectangles. Well it looks like Sony may already be aiming to fix your complaints because Sony stated recently that they are aware of their fans dislikes of the new interface and they will make changes in due time. Today, a new recent fan made video has surfaced on the web and it shows off a new design of the friends list and a very nice new look for players to check their trophies and if this is what the friends list can than this would be incredible. Sony Playstation 3 has had a ton of momentum especially coming off a successful E3′09. PSP Go! was revealed, The Magic Wand Surprised and Stunned the audience, Uncharted 2 won game of the show, and Metal Gear’s Story will have further details thanks to a new PSP version with clones. Now with all that momentum in their favor what could possibly go wrong? Ah Yes Delays and the victim is M.A.G.

M.A.G. is a game that’s going to be ground breaking 256 players at once alone is enough to get the hardcore gaming community overly excited but it seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for that experience. M.A.G. according to Gamestop and Gamefly has now been pushed back to 2010 which is a major blow to the Sony lineup this year. Now the momentum that Sony has mostly came from products and software that’s coming out next year so currently Uncharted 2 is their secret weapon.

Looking ahead against the competition Microsoft has Splinter Cell: Conviction, Halo: ODST, those two alone are going to be major power houses, The fall update with twitter, facebook, last.fm, and Instant HD. Shadow complex is another great title coming along with Forza Motorsport 3 the tides seem to have changed.

Microsoft along with those software titles and hardware updates with a killer price point, will be a force to reckon with and even the mighty Uncharted 2 along with the new Ratchet and Clank game may not be enough for Sony to fully compete with.

M.A.G. needs to be in that line-up because that game offers something that Microsoft doesn’t this year and also Microsoft doesn’t have a game that massive that can compete with this major exclusive and, delaying it will hurt Sony this year.

The PSP GO! will be great October 1st with GT PSP but that’s the psp market not PS3 there’s a difference when you look at it from a direct competitior standing.

Forza Motorsport is a great franchise and a great answer for Microsoft Xbox360 to compete with Gran Turismo. Gran Turismo always lacked a damage modeling system in their game and considering Forza had that function since day one added more realism and fun factor for the xbox platform. Now it seems that the roles has now been reversed sorta speak because now Gran Turismo has the damage feature along with Rally Car Racing, Nascar Racing, Weather Changes, and Day/Night cycles making this game really over the top.

Considering the power we’ve seen over the years out of Xbox360 the question has now been raised about the possibility of limitations coming to the console. Forza 3 won’t be featuring Day/Night cycles, Weather Changes, or even Rally Races, regardless the game is going to be great but at the same time this is a competition, but what is truly holding Forza back from implementing these features that the fans want.

Forza’s Content Director John Wendl Had This To Say

“It is going to ship on two discs. Disc one is the full experience. Even disc one is bigger than any other racing game out there. Disc two includes a lot of extra cars, even a handful of tracks.”

Extra Cars And Tracks are major considering the amount of power and detail that goes into the tracks and car models and damage to these car models. So will the DLC be coming soon or has the DVD issue struck hard against the 360.

Microsoft just like any other game company wants to make money and DLC has been the answer this gen and it’s also competitive against the used game market that Gamestop is notorious for. Now is it possible that this game is being held back on purpose so that Microsoft can make more money from DLC patches adding these features later on in the games life cycle, or is this the time where we see Forza 3 get outdone by Gran Turismo in more areas than one cause of DVD storage issues.

Weather changes will increase the intensity of gameplay simply because of physics and the dynamics of driving on the road with snow , or rain, alters the way you drive depending on the vehicle you have. Gran Turismo with the amount of cars available and the tune up settings all of these parameters will have to be taken into effect when the wheather changes become apart of the games strategy.

Day and Night cycles are great to show off graphics and also it has an effect on gameplay when it comes to seeing and, spotting things on the road which will also intensify gameplay. Adding the Nascar, and Rally Racing functions changes the entire play style and what you do on the road as a whole to the point where it’s like having 3 games in one what a deal.

Microsoft is smart and most likely these features as they were explained above dealing with Gran Turismo is very important why? because they are selling points and Microsoft does not want to be left out of the loop especially during competitive interviews, without having a answer to there rivals. Forza 3 will most likely have DLC so that they can be able to compete with Gran Turismo and also give the fans what they really want in the next Forza game.

The Forza Franchise always had great features such as the car customizations, the online auctions, and the movie maker function, that’s incredible along with the Le Mans racing, but when it comes to this generation and gameplay gamers want more but the question is this.

Punisher No Mercy just came out yesterday on the PSN. It is available for 10 dollars. I got time to play through it today and here is my review.

Punisher is basically like Unreal Tournament in the Punisher’s universe.

Story

Well, the story is laughable. I do not keep up with the punisher in any way shape or form, but I know a bad story when I see on. The story stinks. The voice acting is even more terrible. There are literally only 4 missions. The voice acting sucks……… None of the voices suited the characters. Some may even find certain characters’ voices offensive. Now, all that may have made you want to skip the game, but then again…….Punisher can be bought for just 10 dollars. That price tag makes it perfect. The story is acceptable for what you are paying. However, that is not the Punisher’s primary focus

Looks

Punisher is running on the Unreal Engine. Now you may think that the game will look pretty good, and you are right. However, there are so many texture pop-ups that it can get down right annoying. The voice acting as I said before sucks. Another thing is the ridiculous announcer (The guy who says “Double Kill” and other ridiculous comments). Well that guy gets annoying as well. Other than that, for what you are paying, it’s great. For a 3D FPS, it is not so great.

Controls

Controls are typical. There isn’t anything fancy. Really simple. I do want to add however that aiming can be troublesome. I can’t tell if you have to hold the aim button or click the aim button to actually aim. It can be frustrating at times. You can carry three weapons (main, sub, special). Controls are not as smooth as you would hope. There is an auto aim function that is turned on, and turning 180 degrees can be a bitch. It takes time to adjust, but the controls are for the most part solid.

Gameplay

This is where the game focuses on. You have online multiplayer, co-op story mode, and regular story mode. There are only 4 levels in the story mode, but it is a little more enjoyable with a buddy along. You unlock weapons as you beat story levels and complete certain requirements in online multiplayer. The online is pretty good. You can play with up to 8 players online. Seems small, but the levels are set up for 8 people. Anything less and it can be a pain sometimes to find people. You are given your typical game types along with a few interesting ones. There is a DLC option in the menu, so expect some DLC later down the road.

Summary

Overall for a 10 dollar game, you get a lot. You get a lot of value for what you pay. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves fast paced FPS. If you do not like Unreal or anything of that sort, then avoid this game. Definitely a hit or miss. If you have extra cash then just save the money for Battlefield 1943 that comes out next week for 15 dollars. If you have even more extra cash, then buy this game.

Gameplay – First of all the controls felt very solid and accessible. Going through the game was very intense and satisfying because of the new features Wolfenstein has added which is the VALE. Now the Vale adds so much to the gameplay because it enhances your strategy against the enemies and also evading situations. The Vale allows you to see things that aren’t really there and all you do is push down on the d-pad, then boom the Vale action is in place simple and effect. The weapon wheel works great with a great selection of weapons which are very useful especially when things heat up on screen. The action the variety of enemies which is key to the enjoyment of games, also the A.I. is what really makes this game a title that is on it’s way to Triple A statis.
