First day sells are in for Final Fantasy XIII

Square-Enix scores big with their latest installment in the Final Fantasy series, selling a million copies in the first day. The news was disclosed in statement released by Square-Enix yesterday, however, the sale figures did not include the game bundle with the PS3, the extremely attracted Lighting Edition. So one can only assume taking the Lighting Edition into account that the game probably sold a little bit more than a million.

Square-Enix announce a couple of days ago that company shipped  two million copies to retailers, which is probably going to be gone by next Monday. Hopefully our Japanese friends will leave us some Lighting Edition bundles for us to pick up in March.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment (USHE) announced today the introduction of groundbreaking dual-format discs containing both Blu-ray Hi-Def and DVD versions of some of Hollywood’s most iconic films. The new “flipper” discs will launch on January 19, 2010 with the blockbuster superspy thrillers The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, starring Matt Damon, premiering as individually packaged Blu-ray discs.

For the first time ever, consumers will have the ability to choose between Blu-ray and DVD formats, simply by flipping a single disc. With complete utility in one convenient package, the revolutionary medium can be used on any DVD or Blu-ray compatible player, game platform or computer, making it ideal for anyone planning to upgrade to Blu-ray at a future date as well as current owners of both Blu-ray and DVD systems. Each side of Universal’s flipper discs includes the entire movie as well as all available bonus features, with the Blu-ray side featuring BD exclusives such as U-Control and BD-Live.

“Universal’s flipper discs are the perfect way for consumers to future-proof their collections while still enjoying their favorite movies on all their existing DVD players,” said Craig Kornblau, President of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. “The flipper disc offers an easy way for viewers to convert to Blu-ray now or at any time in the future, confident in the fact they will be able to experience their home entertainment purchases in the highest quality picture and sound when they do.”

The release will mark the first time the “Bourne” trilogy, one of the highest-grossing action movie franchises in history, is available individually in Blu-ray’s renowned perfect picture and purest digital sound. Each film is accompanied by an array of exciting bonus features that plunge viewers deeper in to the shadowy world of international espionage, including top-secret files, challenging strategy games, fascinating filmmakers and actor profiles, commentary, deleted scenes and Universal’s renowned BD-Live functionality.

Go to hell this December with Dante

DantesInferno_hero

What’s good gamers, we all will get an early preview of Dante’s adventure this December when the Dante’s Inferno demo hit the PS3 and Xbox 360. Check out the press release:

Coming this December, the ‘Gates of Hell’ demo includes the entire opening level and gives gamers a taste of Visceral Games’ blockbuster adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy.

The ‘Gates of Hell’ demo will introduce players to the game’s hero, epic story and intense action gameplay, tracing Dante’s battles from the surface all the way to the Gates of Hell. Players will experience fast-paced hack-n-slash combat as they fend off waves of enemies before taking on the ultimate battle against Death. After defeating this boss, Dante will be armed with Death’s scythe, a powerful holy cross, and will be ready to tear open the Gates of Hell. The demo also features two stunning cinematic movies made by Blur, the award-winning visual effects, animation and design studio.

“Our main goal from the start of this project has been to create a journey that will make gamers truly feel like they are going through hell,” said executive producer Jonathan Knight. “The demo will give everyone some insight into how we are treating the story and a taste of the gameplay. And with nine more circles of hell to explore once the game comes out in February, we are literally just scratching the surface.”

With the God of War 3 demo coming out this month and Dante’s Inferno coming next month, oh boy, what can I say.

Grand Turismo 5 a 3 Disc Game?

Posted by Killa-Indian | Features, Real Talk with the HipHopGamer, Sony | Tuesday 20 October 2009 12:15 pm

Check out the video. At 53 seconds in it shows a possible packaging option for the game. Even though it shows a thicker casing, it can mean many things. The video clearly shows that the thicker casing is housing 3 smaller cases. One red, one blue, and one black. It can mean many things. It can be a special edition, or the game may really require 3 discs. I highly doubt that since Polyphony probably want to release this through PSN. Anyway, here are some close up shots

Major Nelson Says PS3 Is Collecting Dust! Yeah Right

Posted by hiphopgamer | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Tuesday 20 October 2009 2:08 am

Major Nelson is the biggest Xbox360 fanboy in the world but that comes with good reason, he’s their promotional tool. Although Xbox360 is a great machine and has made a big impact in this industry when your being outsold by the competition consistently now it’s hard to believe that Sony Playstation 3 is collecting dust.

Major Nelson and the entire Xbox team has given gamer so much to enjoy over the years but in truth regardless of their major stride and rise to become number one in this industry, SONY is the brand name that is still the main choice for gamers around the world and the proof is below in this Vidicle (Video Article).

TGS 09: Bayonetta running on the PS3

Posted by DaSolidProof | Real Talk with the HipHopGamer | Friday 25 September 2009 9:03 pm

What’s good my fellow gamers, one of my friends send me a video of Bayonetta running on the PS3 at this year’s TGS and base off this video, it looks and plays good. What do you guys think?

Update:

One of the editors from 1up.com posted an article stating the PS3 version of Bayonetta is still slightly behind its Xbox 360 counterpart, this is what he had to say:

“I went into it looking to compare the frame rate and visuals of the two versions, and found the PS3 demo to look better than I expected it would after reading Justin’s impressions (from the event in Japan mentioned above). That’s not to say it looked as good as the Xbox 360 demo that was on display 10 feet away at TGS, but the differences came in elements that many people might not notice unless they were actively looking for them — i.e. the frame rate wasn’t quite as smooth in some areas, and the overall look seemed to be slightly less vibrant. Notably, however, the level Justin mentioned in our previous story as being the worst example from the PS3 version — with the clock tower falling in the sky — was not on display.”

According to the editor’s statement it appears, the two versions are going to have slight differences, like every other multi-title that comes out for the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, it appears that 1up.com previous accusations were false, so I’m wondering what version was on display in Tokyo, Roppongi?
